It’s starting to look like the goal of the currently filming Wolverine 3 is to send Hugh Jackman‘s adamantium-clawed superhero out with a bloody bang by throwing as many villains at him as possible. We already know that Narcos star Boyd Holbrook will play the lead villain, an original character reportedly created specifically for this film and that Richard E. Grant will play a “mad scientist” of some kind. Even the post-credits scene in X-Men: Apocalypse appears to be setting up a future villain whose identity will lurk behind this link for those who wish to know.
Now, a new report claims to know about another group of villains that will menace Wolverine in his cinematic swan song and fans will be pleased to note that they have been ripped straight from the comics. Wolverine 3 has been operating under a shroud of secrecy. We know it’ll bring back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and that it’ll loosely be based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s Old Man Logan storyline. But even as the cast continues to grow — with Fear the Walking Dead and Orange Is the New Black star Elizabeth Rodriguez as its latest exciting addition — we haven’t heard a whole lot about which characters these actors will be playing.
We may, however, finally have some clue as to whom Wolverine will be going up against, thanks to X-Men: Apocalypse. Although the film won’t open in the U.S. for another week, word from overseas is that the end-credits scenes may hold some key information about the villain of Wolverine 3. Obviously, SPOILERS for X-Men: Apocalypse follow. Read More »

The on-again, off-again development process for Fox’s X-Force movie seems to be back on again. X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has revealed that the X-Men spinoff is still in the works, with Simon Kinberg already hard at work on the script. Cool Posts From Around the Web:
A few months ago, it was rumored that The Wolverine 3 would be shooting for an R rating. But not because of the success of Deadpool. No sir. It definitely has nothing to do with that film skyrocketing to the top of the superhero heap, becoming the highest-grossing X-Men movie and trampling the likes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at the domestic box office. Yep, this was certainly a decision being made entirely independent of that. Of course. Uh huh.
Anyway, producer Simon Kinberg recently sat down for a new interview and confirmed that the next (and possibly final) adventure of Hugh Jackman‘s adamantium-clawed superhero will be R-rated. He also announced the movie has quietly begun filming and that yes, everyone was correct when they assumed that this movie would be based on the “Old Man Logan” storyline.

It’s a given that Wolverine 3 will bring back Hugh Jackman as the eponymous superhero, and we heard long ago that Patrick Stewart would return as Professor X, too. But as the film nears the start of shooting, it’s collecting quite an eclectic cast around the two familiar X-Men. First Boyd Holbrook and Richard E. Grant signed on as a pair of villains, and now Stephen Merchant — the gangly British comedian you might recognize from The Office — has been set to star as well. Read More »

Wolverine’s never really been one for making friends, but he sure is good at making enemies. Richard E. Grant has joined Wolverine 3 in a villainous role, joining Boyd Holbrook as another baddie. Hugh Jackman, of course, returns to play Wolverine one final time, while Patrick Stewart reprises his role as Professor X. Read More »

Wolverine 3 will be the final hurrah for X-Men star Hugh Jackman, who’s been playing the mutant superhero since 2000. He’s already survived through five X-Men movies and two solo spinoff, and logged time with both the original cast and their younger counterparts. Now Jackman wants to hang up the claws, and his Wolverine certainly deserves to ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after.
But while Wolverine 3 marks an end for Jackman’s version of the character, it’ll be a brand-new beginning for another mutant. Rumor has it Wolverine 3 will mark the big-screen debut of X-23, a popular comic book character who’s got more than a few things in common with the cantankerous Canadian himself. Read More »
