Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer

After years of speculation and controversy, the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer is finally here. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, this reboot of the comic book turned TV show turned movie series has a more modern feel than previous incarnations. We hear Shredder (William Fichtner) talk about creating heroes with reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and then, there they are. Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Raphael. Well, not all of them together. Not in this short tease for the August 8 release. But you get a pretty good idea. Check it out below Read More »

William Fichtner

It’s been clear ever since William Fichtner was cast as Shredder that Jonathan Liebesman‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot would take some liberties with the character’s history. For one thing, Shredder has been portrayed as Japanese in the past, but Fichtner’s take obviously won’t be.

And that’s not the only thing that’s changed. “I can tell you that who Shredder is in the telling of this Turtles is unlike any telling of the story before,” he said. Hit the jump to read his comments on his character, and his possible appearance in the sequels.

elysium10

No doubt plenty of District 9 fans were sold on Elysium the moment they heard the words “directed by Neill Blomkamp.” But moviegoers who need a little more convincing than that can feast their eyes on the new extended trailer, which clocks in at nearly four minutes long.

In the year 2159, society is divided into two very different classes. The wealthy reside their days on a gorgeous, comfortable space station called Elysium, while the poor toil away on ruined Earth below. Matt Damon stars as Max, one of the have-nots who attempts to bridge the gap between the two worlds when his circumstances grow desperate. Watch the video after the jump.

Shredder - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 series

Last week’s confirmation that William Fichtner would play Shredder in Jonathan Liebesman‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot didn’t come as much of a shock. His role was described in the initial casting report as an “iconic” one from the Turtles universe, and aside from the Turtles themselves, they don’t get much more iconic than Shredder.

But it did raise some eyebrows. Shredder has always been a Japanese man, and Fichtner, talented as he is, is not that. Surprise surprise, it turns out Liebesman made Fichtner fit by altering the classic character. Hit the jump to learn more about the new version.

William Fichtner

Next month, William Fichtner will get to terrorize a few beloved pop culture figures in The Lone Ranger. Next summer, he’ll get to do more of the same, but with a different set of classic characters.

Weeks after his casting was first announced, Fichtner has confirmed that he will star as the villainous Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from director Jonathan Liebesman. Previously, we knew only that he’d play someone “with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology.” Read his comment on the character after the jump.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Heroes in mo-cap, CG power! After a few days of Megan Fox on the set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the stars of the film have finally surfaced from the sewer. Actors Noel Fisher (Michelangelo) Jeremy Howard (Donatello) and Pete Ploszek (Leonardo) have been spotted on the set of the Jonathan Liebesman film in full motion-capture garb.

Of course, we’ve all seen what motion capture suits look like before, but there are a few subtle differences here. First, the motion capture is being done outside and not on a closed set; that’s a technique that was revolutionized on Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Second, each actor has a massive mo-cap shell on their back. And third, they’re all sporting arm bands to corrospond to their character’s color.

But wait there’s more! The photos also reveal our first look at what is seems to be Shredder’s Foot Soldiers, and even a major plot point.

Update: Deadline adds that William Fichtner has joined the cast, playing an unidentified lead role “with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology.”

The Lone Ranger

In conjunction with yesterday’s new domestic trailer for Gore Verbinski‘s The Lone Ranger, a new international trailer has also hit the web. While this one gets into the plot a little bit — Tonto’s (Johnny Depp) reaction to meeting the Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer) is a highlight — its focus is really on the action. The obviously expensive, hilariously absurd, and utterly awesome action. Hit the jump to check it out.

The Lone Ranger

The first two character posters for The Lone Ranger highlighted two figures we already know pretty well — the Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer) and Tonto (Johnny Depp) — but now the marketing team has moved on to some other folks we’re not quite so familiar with.

Helena Bonham Carter‘s Red, Ruth Wilson‘s Rebecca Reid, and William Fichtner‘s Butch Cavendish each get a turn in the spotlight, along with a pithy description explaining more about their characters. And it’s a good thing, too, since they don’t get much to do in the latest TV spot. Hit the jump for the new posters and video.
