We haven’t seen much at all from the new Duncan Jones movie Warcraft, but at Blizzcon today the gates are opening on some of the film’s story. We’ve known most of the cast of the film, which includes Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, Dominic Cooper, Daniel Wu and Clancy Brown. Until today we weren’t certain about most of their characters beyond the fact that Foster would play Medivh. Briefly: Legendary may have showed off some proof of concept footage for Duncan Jones‘ upcoming Warcraft at Comic Con, but the film isn’t actually cast and shooting just yet. Production is expected to kick off for real early in 2014, and so the movie is starting to hit the casting process now.
The first report we’ve got about possible actors for the film says that Paula Patton is in talks for one lead role and that another has been offered to Colin Farrell. We still know nothing about the script, by Charles Leavitt, so it is impossible to say precisely what sort of characters the actors could end up playing. Patton is evidently pretty far along in the casting process, while Farrell isn’t yet set, and could still end up not taking the gig.
Update: A shortlist for the film also includes Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, Prisoners), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels), and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Fright Night). [Deadline]

In a casting break from a week or so back we announced quite a few names for The Baytown Disco, which has Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria starring in a story of ” three redneck brothers who get more than they bargained for when agreeing to help a woman get her son back from his seemingly abusive father.”
Daniel Cudmore and Travis Fimmel were just cast as two of those brothers; the previously cast Clayne Crawford will be the third. Andrew Barugher has also been added, but we don’t know for what role. Barry Battles co-write the script with Griffin Hood, and he’ll direct the film in Lousiana starting next week. [THR]
After the break, Amanda Seyfried gets company in Gone and Jane Levy (pictured above) joins a comedy. Read More »
