Hot Rod in Transformers The Last Knight

The most recent trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight showed off plenty from the sequel that is supposed to be the last installment of the franchise directed by Michael Bay. However, one character that we still haven’t seen much of is Hot Rod.

The Autobot has origins going all the way back to the 1986 animated movie when he was granted the Matrix of Leadership and became Rodimus Prime in the wake of the death of Optimus Prime. We’re not likely to see that same story unfold on the big screen, if only because it was a storyline that fans hated, but Hot Rod will still play a key role in the sequel.

A new image of Hot Rod in Transformers The Last Knight has emerged online along with a slew of details explaining what role the Autobot plays in the story. It turns out that he has played quite a pivotal role in the life of one of our new human characters. Find out more below. Read More »

2017 summer movie preview

The summer season is almost upon us and you know what that means: movies are about to get bigger, louder, and more expensive. And, if we’re lucky, they’ll also be pretty great!

The /Film team examined the list of every single major wide release (our indie and streaming preview arrives next week) hitting theaters this summer and argued, debated, and occasionally agreed on which 25 movies we’re most looking forward to watching over the coming months. The staff then voted, ranking them from “movies we want to see” to “movies we want to see right now.” So here’s our 2017 summer movie preview, which features superheroes, evil dolls, talking cars, pirates, sharks, dead strippers, World War II, and so much more.

Anthony Hopkins Calls Michael Bay Genius

Director Michael Bay has been making feature films for 22 years now. He made his directorial debut with Bad Boys in 1995, and since then he’s given us spectacle after spectacle featuring explosions, super models, sweeping cameras and more. For the past decade, he’s been predominantly busy with the Transformers franchise, but this summer appears to be his last time behind the camera of the franchise (at least until an appealing spin-off for him to direct comes long).

For some fans, Michael Bay departing the Transformers franchise will be a welcome change. But those fans apparently didn’t know that we’ve had a genius behind these movies the whole time. That’s what Anthony Hopkins recently called Michael Bay in a recent interview, favorably comparing the Armageddon and Pain & Gain director to filmmakers like Martin Scorsese. Find out more below. Transformers The Last Knight Featurette - Michael Bay

Last week brought CinemaCon to Las Vegas where studios unfurled some of their most exciting projects to movie theater exhibitors, so they know what to expect from the blockbuster offerings coming to theaters over the next couple years. Tons of new trailers were screened that haven’t been released yet, and there were even showings of both Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and The Fate of the Furious. But Michael Bay and IMAX brought their own kind of hype to CinemaCon.

This summer, Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters, and it’s the only blockbuster that was shot natively in IMAX 3D. A new featurette has Michael Bay explaining just why he chose to shoot in this format while also hyping up the movie with shots of what the director does best: blow shit up. Plus, there’s some new footage from the film that we haven’t seen yet.
