This coming weekend, audiences will feast their eyes on Disney’s live-action sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland, from The Incredibles director Brad Bird. Considering the onslaught of hype and buzz there has been for anticipated movies this year from Disney-owned Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm, it’s kind of refreshing to have an original sci-fi flick such as Tomorrowland hitting the big screen this summer. However, writer Damon Lindelof just revealed that there was a Tomorrowland credits scene pitch that would have featured a pretty blatant tie-in to both Marvel and Star Wars. Find out about the Tomorrowland credits scene below! Read More »

Update From Editor Peter Sciretta: Disney has released two new Tomorrowland videos focusing on some of the characters in the upcoming film. The videos profile Casey (Britt Robinson) and Athena (Raffey Cassidy). We have updated this story to include both Tomorrowland character videos after the jump.
I get the sense Tomorrowland is a movie I’m going to want to live in after we see it. Thankfully, Disney has made that pretty easy. Not all of it is easy to find, but they’ve done a great job at hiding clues to the history of the film across all kinds of media: books, theme parks, television and more.
Basically, it seems like some of the most famous and brilliant minds in history once came together to build a magical, futuristic place for humanity to continue to thrive in peace. But, something happened, and now that place is hidden. How was this place, called Tomorrowland, created? Why is it hidden? How can it be saved?
Lots of these questions are sure to be revealed on May 22 when the Brad Bird film hits theaters. Below, there’s a video detailing this history of Plus Ultra, the group of famous thinkers who combined efforts to create Tomorrowland. There’s also a new TV spot showing some of the connections between this movement and the events in the movie. Check it all out below. Read More »
Until now, all the trailers for Brad Bird‘s Tomorrowland have primarily sold wonder. A girl finds a pin that shows her another world. There’s a flying bathtub, giant robots, someone with a jet pack, and a rocket powered Eiffel Tower. Just a big hodgepodge of awesome.
A third trailer has now been released and it is much more focused. It’s pretty much an entire scene from the film, featuring George Clooney and Britt Robertson, with lots of what makes the film so unique. Clooney’s house is a Temple of Doom for the people chasing them, littered with crazy defensive gadgets aiding in the battle. Less is learned about the movie as a whole, but we see the potential this scenario has to show us anything is possible.

If IMAX is the future of movies, the company is really going to show it with Brad Bird‘s Tomorrowland. While the director didn’t shoot in native IMAX, his film will be presented entirely in an expanded aspect ratio when it is released on May 22. Sam Mendes’ Skyfall did something similar; it was shown in a 1.9:1 aspect ratio, which is 25% bigger than a regular screen. Tomorrowland will be similar.
If that’s not enough, fans who go to see Avengers: Age of Ultron in IMAX will be presented with an extended look at Tomorrowland, running about six minutes long. Read more about the Tomorrowland IMAX goodies below. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Four new Tomorrowland character posters show off the film’s four major characters in a glowing, idealistic light. Literally — these are pretty magic hour portraits featuring George Clooney as “former boy-genius Frank,” and the girl Casey (Britt Robertson), who finds her way to Frank’s home, and to Tomorrowland. Who are the other two? There are Raffey Cassidy as Athena, and Thomas Robinson as young Frank. Check ’em all out below. Read More »
Where better to learn more about Tomorrowland than in Tomorrowland?
At the Tomorrowland theme park at Disneyland (and soon Epcot in Disney World) Disney has opened a brand new preview of Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland. Walt Disney and his theme parks exist in the world of Brad Bird‘s Tomorrowland. That’s a secret the cast and crew kept for a long time but in the past few videos and trailers, it’s become abundantly clear. The question then becomes, how much of an influence was Walt on this movie, which is named after something he first created in the 1950? A few new featurettes give some tantalizing teases at these connections alongside glimpses of a few other things from the film.
Plus, a new novel serves as a prequel to Tomorrowland and offers even more context. Find out more about the Tomorrowland Walt Disney connections below. Read More »
