If Lindsay Lohan seems like less than ideal casting for the role of Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s Liz and Dick, how does Megan Fox strike you? In a talk with E!, executive producer Larry Thompson named the Transformers actress as one of the other names up for the lead. “I’ve been talking to Lindsay Lohan directly, and with her reps, and have been in conversations with other actresses, including Megan Fox,” he said. “It’s a very serious selection…. It’s like casting for Hollywood royalty.”
It’s unclear how seriously Fox is considering the part. While she’s not the most respected actress around, she’s got a couple of interesting movie roles coming up this year — Jennifer Westfeldt’s Friends With Kids and Judd Apatow’s This is Forty — and a Lifetime original movie seems like it’d be a step down for her. Whatever the decision, though, it’ll have to be made soon as Liz and Dick is scheduled to begin shooting in Canada this spring. [via The Playlist]
After the jump, Tommy Lee Jones is a legendary American hero and Shirley MacLaine is Ben Stiller’s mom.

As we head toward the Oscars and therefore the end of awards season, it’s time to take a better look at some of the films we’re anticipating from 2012. We have for you today an eclectic mix of photos from some of the entertainments we’re most looking forward to, from Gary Ross‘ deadly serious YA adaptation The Hunger Games to Judd Apatow‘s almost-middle-age comedy This is Forty and everything in between. Check out photos for those films plus The Gangster Squad, Men in Black III, and Frankenweenie after the jump.

Here’s the trailer for Men in Black 3, the troubled production that puts Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones back in the severe suits of the alien-policing government agency. The film also features Josh Brolin as a young version of Jones’ agent K, and as we see here, it’s possible that Brolin’s impersonation of Jones will at least be dead-on. As for the rest of the film, the trailer suggests that we’ll see a very deliberate recreation of the formula that made the first film a big hit. Check it out below. Read More »

Despite the fact that the word “trailer” is used four times in the title of the post, we don’t have any actual trailers for you here — just some quick bits of information about trailers. That’s almost as good, right? No? Well, too bad. After the jump:
- The trailer for Men in Black III debuts Monday
- The Prometheus trailer gets a 14A rating — the Canadian equivalent to a hard PG-13
- The first Rock of Ages trailer will debut with Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Here are the first teaser posters for Sony’s Men in Black 3, the sequel that was strangely split into two parts while shooting. The movie brings Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones back into the alien-policing fold while also serving up a time-travel storyline that features Josh Brolin and a host of strange cameos. We haven’t seen an official image yet, much less a trailer, but if you really want something official these two very early teaser posters will have to do.
The two posters don’t tell us much beyond the basic fact of the film’s existence. They don’t even reference the fact of the film being in 3D. Check them out below.
Update: We’ve got HR versions of both posters now. Read More »

Chuck actress Yvonne Strahovski is in final talks for I, Frankenstein, Stuart Beattie‘s adaptation of the comic book by Kevin Grevioux. Aaron Eckhart leads the cast as Frankenstein’s classic monster, who in the present day goes by Adam and stands between humanity and the supernatural demons who would overtake them.
Bill Nighy was previously announced as being in talks to play the villain, a demon prince determined to unlock the secrets of Frankenstein’s reanimation. Strahovski is negotiating for the female lead, a scientist who’s tricked by the demons into helping them create an undead army. Miranda Otto and Socratis Otto (no relation) also star.
Strahovski recently starred in Killer Elite with Jason Statham, Clive Owen, and Robert De Niro, and will next appear in My Mother’s Curse with Seth Rogen, Barbra Streisand, and Adam Scott. I, Frankenstein is scheduled to begin shooting this winter in Australia. [The Hollywood Reporter]
After the jump, rising star David Oyelowo books yet another high-profile project, and Elle Fanning and Alessandro Nivola try to stop things from exploding.

In a summer crowded with superhero blockbusters, Captain America: The First Avenger ranks just below X-Men: First Class, and far ahead of Green Lantern and fellow Avengers lead-in Thor. It never quite reaches the highs of First Class or 2008′s Iron Man, but thanks largely to Joe Johnston‘s direction and Chris Evans‘ performance, it is a genuinely enjoyable film that gets right so much of what Thor and Green Lantern couldn’t.
