It’s a rare occasion to specifically call out a single day’s Teefury t-shirt, but it’s a rare occasion for one to be this awesome. Popular Mondo artist Tom Whalen is behind the Wednesday March 26 design and it’s called “Back to the Future Past.” The image blends the characters of the X-Men with Back to the Future, in a similar time travel way to the upcoming film X-Men: Days of Future Past.
This t-shirt, which costs only $11, is only on sale until midnight tonight, Easter Standard Time at Teefury.com.

Spinning movies in artistic, fun ways is what Tom Whalen and Dave Perillo are all about. In 2012, the Pennsylvania artists took art fans on a tour of their favorite ’80s film locations. In 2013, they’re presenting some of their favorite modern films in vintage styles.
The exhibit called Modern Vintage opens at Gallery 1988 East in Los Angeles on December 6. It’s the second show by the artists, who are best known for the stellar work they’ve done in the past for Mondo, Acme, Disney, Fox and so many more. This latest show is a little less specific than their 2012 Gallery 1988 show in that the pieces aren’t beholden to any 100% specific theme. Movies like Batman, Robocop, Army of Darkness and Blade Runner are simply reimagined in clever vintage styles. That might mean an advertisement, it might mean a public service announcement or maybe something else entirely. Either way, Whalen and Perillo’s signature, colorful art will delight fans who are in on the joke.

Transformers: the Movie means many things to many people. To some, it was a formative tale of the death of a loved one. To others, it brought the words “You’ve Got The Touch” into the popular vernacular. And it’ll always be remembered one of the final films of Orson Welles’ career, giving the movie a unique place in popular culture.
All of that comes together in the latest poster officially licensed by Hasbro for the Acid Free Gallery. Tom Whalen has made a gorgeous representation of the 1986 cult classic featuring all your favorite characters from the film: Galvatron, Unicron, Hot Rod, Spike, Sharkticons, and even the “Ba weep granna weep ninnibon” guys.
Plus, it’s going to be released both in a limited edition variant as well as a three day timed release, meaning they’ll print as many as are ordered. Below, read more about the print including an exclusive interview with Whalen, and get a full look at the posters. Read More »
