The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled Box Set was finally released Tuesday and, in it, Marvel opened the curtain a bit in regards to Phase Two. We’ve already seen too much from Iron Man 3, but we’ve seen almost nothing (official, at least) from the next three films: Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. That’s no longer the case after this post.

A few concept images from Guardians of the Galaxy made it online Tuesday morning, along with a featurette, but now there’s much more. Now you look at stills from a Captain America: The Winter Soldier anamatic and concept images of how both Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and the Winter Soldier (Sebastan Stan) will look. If that’s not enough, screencaps of Thor: The Dark World footage give us our first real, good look at that movie. And, for good measure, how about a few more Guardians concept images including Rocket Raccoon?

Marvel Studios has become such a moneymaking juggernaut that it is able to bring a diverse approach to casting. Look at some of the great names that have decorated Marvel movies in the past couple years: Stanley Tucci, Idris Elba, Hugo Weaving, and Tommy Lee Jones are just a few. The studio is pulling in other talents, too, and is drawing from the world of comedy to populate some of its second wave films. Chris Pratt of Parks and Rec is in Guardians of the Galaxy, and Kat Dennings returns for Thor: The Dark World.

Also appearing in Thor 2 will be an actor who cut his teeth on British comedy shows before appearing in one of the biggest US comedies of the past few years. Sounds like his Thor appearance will be a cameo only, and to spare those who don’t want spoilers, we’ve got the details below the break.  Read More »

Despite the presence of characters like Thor and Loki, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has mostly been grounded in an Earthbound reality. But Phase Two seems to be taking a more otherworldly bent, with Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy on the table.

We’ve already seen how Marvel Studios does Asgard thanks to the first Thor, but Guardians promises to take us into a whole new corner of the MCU. According to studio head Kevin Feige, Guardians will be set “95% in space.” And yes, that means we won’t see much of the Avengers out there. Hit the jump to read his comments.
