In Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg‘s upcoming film The World’s End, five friends attempt to relive a bar crawl they did 20 years prior. We know that Pegg and Nick Frost will be two of the friends, completing the Cornetto Trilogy with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, and recently Paddy Considine was revealed as the third. Wright has been shooting for a few weeks now, yet the identities of the final two friends remained a mystery. Empire Online is now reporting the group of friends will be completed by Martin Freeman (The Office, Sherlock, The Hobbit) and Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes, V for Vendetta) making an already awesome sounding film exponentially better. Read more after the jump.

By the time fall rolls around, most of the year’s big movie releases are already behind us. But there’s plenty of good stuff coming up on the horizon in 2013, and a trio of projects we’re curious about have just started shooting.

Near Hollywood, the wolf pack (Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, and Ed Helms) has reconvened for The Hangover Part III, with wives (Gillian Vigman, Jamie Chung, and Sacha Barrese) in tow. Across the country in Atlanta, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and franchise newcomer Sam Claflin are getting prepped for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the the Atlantic Ocean, over in the UK, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost are getting their heads back together for The World’s End. Hit the jump to see images from the set of all three films.

This summer has been great for fans of Edgar Wright. A few people got to see his compelling test footage for Marvel’s Ant-Man, for one. For those who aren’t willing to wait for that, however, the third film of his loose, so-called ‘Blood and Ice Cream’ trilogy with Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz co-conspirators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost is finally moving forward.

The World’s End, as the film is called, kicks off with a group of five friends going on a reunion pub crawl, and the first teaser poster for the film promised an epic round of drinking. But we can expect it to be much more than that, and even if the title of the film is also the name of one of the visited pubs, it is also fairly ominous. We don’t have much info on the cast that will support Frost and Pegg, but Baz Bamigboye reports that Rosamund Pike (Pride and Prejudice, An Education, Wrath of the Titans) will play one of the characters, and that’s a great start. After the jump, check out the poster for Wright and Pegg’s latest and read all about it. Read More »

Some would say the best movie moment of May 2012 was the release of The Avengers. Or was it maybe that new Wes Anderson movie, the final Dark Knight Rises trailer or Cannes Film Festival? Fair enough and all good choices. However, I’d retort, “Do you realize May was the month Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright finally announced they’re making The World’s End?”

The confirmation of a film that’s not only a sequel to two beloved ones, but has been rumored for half-a-decade ranks right up there with all of those things. In a new interview with Empire Magazine, the pair expands a bit on that mysterious plot description released not long ago, and suggests The World’s End might actually be an alien invasion film. This year things have been seemed to be pretty active in Edgar Wright‘s career. There was the announcement that he is attached to direct a Disney update of the old The Night Stalker TV show, first of all. That was followed by a tease that Ant-Man could be forthcoming, as well as the very real announcement that the Spaced, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz trio of Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost would finally reunite for The World’s End.

But which will shoot this year? The World’s End is slated for a September shoot, but statements in a recent interview with Wright suggest that Ant-Man might be able shoot this year. So which is it? Wright tells us that it could — maybe — be both. Read More »

After years of anticipation, it’s finally happening.
