2010 MTV Movie Awards Winners

2010 MTV Movie Awards

Lets face it, the MTV Movie Awards is not a real award show. It’s more a piece of badly choreographed television “entertainment” than anything else. I mean, at what other Award show does Twilight: New Moon take home five awards, and the movie Obsessed win… well, anything — EVER?

For those of you who are interested, you can find a list of winners of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards after the jump. Leave your snarky sarcastic-filled responses below.

VOTD: Twilight: New Moon in One Minute

New Moon

Don’t have the time or effort to to spend two hours with screaming teens to watch The Twilight Saga: New Moon at your local multiplex? Jack Douglas has seen the film, and has created an abbreviated version (just over one minute to be exact) so that you don’t have to suffer and endure a film in which, according to Jack, literally nothing happens. Jack writes:

Now the movie itself is very pretty, the acting’s fine, the soundtrack didn’t piss me off, and the special effects are convincing. However, they don’t distract me from the fact that the plot doesn’t exist.

Watch the one minute version of New Moon after the jump, followed by Jack’s recap of the non existant plot of the film.

LOL: Kevin Smith Sticks Up For Twilight Fans

Kevin Smith at Comic Con

This video clip of filmmaker Kevin Smith was shot at San Diego Comic-Con 2009. It’s not new, but it has been making the rounds this weekend due to the huge box office success of the Twilight sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon. And yes, we’ve featured it on the site before, but it might have been passed over during the madness that was Comic Con… so… why not? In the clip, embedded after the jump, Smith makes the argument that we should encourage and celebrate Twilight fandom, “because in six years, they’ll be eighteen year old girls who like vampires… don’t poo poo it because there is a plan, and it’s working!” Hard to argue against. Lets just hope they grow to like better written and more interesting geek books/comics/films…

Summit Entertainment has announced that The Twilight Saga: New Moon has broken box office records, earning over $26.27 million in midnight screenings from 3,514 theaters. This destroys the $22.2 million midnight record held by Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, and the previous second place, Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight, which earned $18.4 million in midnight earnings. Also, Summit’s re-release of the original Twilight on Thursday night on 2,057 screens resulted in $1.3 million in ticket sales.

But the real question is, what will New Moon’s numbers look like at the end of the weekend?

The Twilight Saga: New Moon hasn’t even hit theaters yet, and as far as I can tell, hasn’t had many advance screenings, yet the sequel has already been voted on by over 1,700 users on the Internet Movie Database. While over 46% of users have given the film a 10 out of 10, more than 44% of users have given the movie a 1 out of 10. What’s the rating? 4.5. Of course it seems more like a turf war battle of the sexes than a real sample of user opinions.

The funniest thing about the rankings is the demographics behind the votes The average Male user rating is a 3.3, while the average female user rating is an 8.0. And while females under 18 rate the film a 8.7, the most popular demo is the “Twilight Mom”, females aged 30-44, which have given the film an average rating of a 9.9. Wow… Full graphs after the jump.
