Let’s take a rare dip into the Twilight pool. The first half of the two-part series climax, Breaking Dawn, is set to be released on November 18, and Summit is starting the promo machine. A set of new photos has been released for the film, along with a big cover story in Entertainment Weekly that doesn’t tell us too much, but promises some punch to the weird, bloody end of the story. Now, in Shocking Tales of Internet Malfeasance, Gilberto Sanchez, the guy who uploaded a workprint of X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009, has pleaded guilty to felony copyright infringement. He won’t be sentenced until September 19, so we’ll have to wait to see if he does time or only has to pay a fine. The penalty is up to three years in jail and a $250,000 fine.
Meanwhile, while the film was leaked out of a post-production facility and ended up sold in bootleg form on New York City streets — which is how Gilberto Sanchez got his copy — we still don’t know who actually leaked the film, or from where. Fox probably knows and isn’t saying. Because while it sucks for Fox that the film was illegally uploaded to the internet, admitting that the post-production process is rife with leaks and chances for theft would just be embarrassing. [THR]
Meanwhile, in a slightly less devastating case, fairly tame sex scene images were leaked this past week from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. We didn’t post them for a few different reasons, but now Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon and the film’s producers have released a statement asking people not to post the images. Read that below. Read More »

What is Page 2? Page 2 is a compilation of stories and news tidbits, which for whatever reason, didn’t make the front page of /Film. After the jump we’ve included 30 different items, fun images, videos, casting tidbits, articles of interest and more. It’s like a mystery grab bag of movie web related goodness. If you have any interesting items that we might’ve missed that you think should go in /Film’s Page 2 – email us!

Edward Cullen and Bella Swan nudity! Though some blurry scans of this week’s Entertainment Weekly had been floating around other movie sites, Summit Entertainment has now provided the high resolution, first look image at Edward and Bella (Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) naked, in bed, from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, scheduled for release November 18.
Check it out after the jump. Read More »

There’s a batch of Breaking Dawn casting to communicate tonight. One chunk is new info, while the other is from a day back. (We don’t bend over backward to get every bit of Twilight news, as you might understand.) The production now has its Denali Clan in full, with a handful of actors joining the recently cast Maggie Grace in the ‘vegetarian’ vampire clan. And Renesmee, the odd daughter of Edward and Bella, has been cast as well. Read More »

Maggie Grace, of Lost and Taken, is the latest addition to the ever-expanding cast of Breaking Dawn, aka the final two films in the Twilight series.
Grace will play Irina, “a member of the Denali coven, considered cousins to the Cullen clan as the only other “vegetarian” vampire group. When Irina blames the Cullens for the death of her lover, her actions set in motion a terrifying chain of events.” (‘Vegetarian’ vampires being ones that don’t feed on human blood as a matter of course.)
Both halves of Breaking Dawn are being directed by Bill Condon, who is shooting the two films in old-fashioned 2D, despite a great deal of supposition that the films would jump to 3D for these final chapters. Post-conversion could still be an option, however. [Deadline]

Briefly: We haven’t riled anyone with Twilight news in a few minutes, so here’s a brief update. At the Emmy Awards the other night, Rami Malek from The Pacific spilled that he’ll appear in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as Benjamin, one of the Egyptian Coven of vampires. Wait, that’s actually pretty good news!
As I understand it, Malek will only appear in the second of the two Breaking Dawn films, and while his role may be small, he might get to have some explosive effects around him. As one rundown of the coven explains, “Benjamin, the mate of Tia, has a high awareness of what is right and wrong, and his special ability is to control the elements of nature, air, earth, fire, and water. Benjamin’s ability is unique in that it involves physical manipulation, as opposed to illusions of the mind.” [EW]

Briefly: Contain your excitement! Or, if you’re eagerly awaiting the end of the Twilight films, don’t. Rejoice that the end is near. Summit has set a release date for the final film in the series. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will open in theaters on November 16, 2012. (So the end isn’t too near — that’s 837 days away.)
In related news, Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies is reportedly being cast in the final films. According to E! News, he’s the top choice to play Garrett, “a tall, nomadic vampire with sandy hair that he keeps tied back with a leather thong.” Even better, E!’s insider says that director Bill Condon is “hoping to take [the final films] in a more artsy direction.” I’ll believe that when I see it.

I know you’ve all been on pins and needles waiting for this news, so rest easy: Summit has confirmed via press release that its adaptation of Breaking Dawn, the final Twilight novel, will be broken into two films so as to maximize profit from the soon to be completed series. Contract negotiations were the reason that it has taken so long between rumor and announcement. Bill Condon directs both films, which could lend them an air of respectability. Just an air, mind you.
All I want to know now is: which of the two films will have the craziest vampire super baby scenes?
The full press release is after the break. Read More »

So we’ve got Oscar-winner Bill Condon directing Breaking Dawn, the final stretch of The Twilight Saga, which may be one film or may yet be split into two. Today Condon published a note to Twilight fans via Facebook, more or less as a way of saying ‘hello.’ Read More »
