Netflix had two Marvel panels for the Television Critics Association, one for Jessica Jones and another for Daredevil. In between panels, Marvel Television Head Jeph Loeb spoke with reporters about the shows. Season two of Daredevil introduces Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) and there is already talk of Bernthal getting his own The Punisher series. There is still a second season of Jessica Jones and launches of Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders on the plate, but Loeb is open to spinning off Castle.

When Netflix started their relationship with Marvel Studios, their slate was quite ambitious. The streaming service struck a deal for series adaptations of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, all leading up to an assembly of The Defenders. However, it sounds like one more Marvel series may enter the equation, and it’s all because of the second season of Daredevil.
Jon Bernthal will be playing Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in the second season of the first Marvel series to debut on Netflix, and apparently the streaming service and Marvel are so happy with the character that they’re already developing a spin-off series for the vigilante. What could’ve been the new Daredevil movie turned into the critically acclaimed Daredevil television series. In a recent interview, writer-director Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), executive producer and creator of the Netflix show, revealed his initial plans for the superhero, which were aimed at the big screen. (Joss Whedon also pushed for the character to lead a movie, rather than a TV series.)
