Los Angeles’s famous pop culture art gallery Gallery1988 will be launching a new show next week at their Melrose location called “Please Post Bills”, an art tribute to Bill Murray. About 80 artists are involved in this group show that will be paying tribute to a comedic legend with prints, sculptures and original pieces.
The show will have its grand opening on Thursday November 3rd 2011, and will run through November 26th. We posted 15 preview pieces from the show last week (click here if you missed it). One year ago, the Spoke Art Gallery burst onto the scene in San Francisco with a show of art centered on the evocative and beautiful films of Wes Anderson. That show was called Bad Dads and now, to celebrate Spoke’s one year anniversary, it’s time for a sequel. The second Bad Dads exhibit opens October 29 and 30 at the Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco and we’re lucky enough to exclusively premiere several pieces from the show which are on sale now.
We’ve got three pieces by Joshua Budich, whose work you might recognize from Spoke’s Quentin vs. Coens shows as well as Crazy 4 Cult and several detailed views of the above, glow-in-the-dark piece by Max Dalton, whose work continues to be nothing short of remarkable. 25-year-old Massachusetts-based graphic artist Brandon Schaefer has created an impressive collection of retro-minimal movie posters. The Ghostbusters-inspired posters above have been making the internet rounds recently, but Schaefer has a huge portfolio of posters, some of which can even be purchased as prints on inPRNT.com. The “Bill Murray Times Six” poster is screenprinted using four colors in wide format (as seen after the jump), 6″ tall by 36″ wide, and limited to only 50 (40 being made available to the public).
