After an hour of Bill Murray being a rock star in Hall H at Comic-Con in San Diego, things took a different turn when the Lionsgate panel began featuring The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
Four timpani drums were rolled out on the Hall H stage, and as the players banged the drums, a stream of additional drummers entered the hall through the crowd, hitting their instruments with vigor, getting louder and louder until suddenly it was time for a message from District 13. You can watch that viral teaser right here, but now it’s time to dig into the final Comic-Con panel for The Hunger Games franchise. It was a sweet, funny, and fond farewell to the young adult sci-fi adaptation with some brief teases of what’s to come in the finale.

Hot on the heels of the recent batch of character posters for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, one more poster for the film, featuring the titular symbol of the rebellion, has surfaced online. That’s just in time to hype Lionsgate’s Comic-Con panel on Thursday for the franchise’s conclusion.
The poster features Jennifer Lawrence, decked out in red gear, sitting on President Snow’s white throne. She looks rather regal and radiant. In addition, Lawrence also stands tall on a new motion poster teaser where she’s atop a statue featuring a familiar symbol of the rebellion other than the flaming gold Mockingjay. Any successful film franchise requires solid world-building. In the case of The Hunger Games, that world has a way of extending into ours, thanks to Lionsgate’s brilliant marketing campaign. Their latest effort for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is a five-part web series called District Voices, featuring YouTube personalities like iJustine showcasing different aspects of life around Panem.
Of course, that doesn’t mean Lionsgate is forgoing more traditional advertising efforts, either. The studio has also released a new promo featuring new footage from Katniss’ plight. Hit the jump for the Hunger Games District Voices series and the new Hunger Games Mockingjay TV spot.

It’s impossible to predict the future, but only an idiot would bet against The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 making a crap ton of money this fall. The first two Hunger Games movies made enough money to turn star Jennifer Lawrence into the Guinness world record holder as the highest-grossing action heroine of all time, and the third looks on track to be just as big if not bigger.
Especially since Lionsgate is not holding back on the marketing. Hot on the heels of an epic new trailer, we have several high-res stills, featuring Katniss, Gale (Liam Hemsworth), and more. See the new Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 images after the jump.

Last week, Guardians of the Galaxy became the top grossing domestic film of 2014, and hit that mark in just about four weeks’ time. That feat will probably be bested in even less time starting November 21, when The Hunger Games: MockingJay Part 1 hits theaters. Jennifer Lawrence is back as Katniss, the girl on fire and the symbol of hope for a nation rebelling against its government. In the first part of the final story, the people’s rebellion against the Capital truly begins.
A new poster has been released featuring Lawrence’s character in a “Rebel Warrior” outfit. Or, at least the back of it. See the new Hunger Games MockingJay poster below. Read More »
