For as many fans as Christopher Nolan has, he has plenty of detractors as well. Who knew some were so closely tied into him, though. In a new interview Christopher Priest, who wrote the novel The Prestige which Nolan adapted, had lots to say about the director and his movies. First of all, he does like The Prestige as a movie but admits the two only met when Nolan finished the film. Since though though, Priest thinks Nolan has gone downhill, going so far as to call his Dark Knight Trilogy “boring and pretentious.” And that’s just part of it. Outside of Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning performance, arguably the most iconic addition to the Batman universe thanks to Christopher Nolan‘s Dark Knight Trilogy was the Tumbler. The way Nolan created a functional, realistic Batmobile and continued to evolve it over the course of three films was just beyond cool. It was one of those things fans and non-fans alike wanted to own when they walked out of the movie. And while The Dark Knight Tumbler has been available in various different ways, it’s finally getting an Ultimate Collector’s Edition Lego.

From 2005-2012, Christopher Nolan reshaped the superhero world with his Dark Knight trilogy. Starting with Batman Begins, exploding with The Dark Knight and climaxing with The Dark Knight Rises, the director deconstructed one of our favorite superheroes in human terms, turning the whole filmed superhero genre on its head. As fans wait for another filmmaker to tackle the Caped Crusader, Warner Bros. is gearing up to celebrate Nolan’s achievements on the home market.
Last year it was revealed the third quarter of 2013 would see the debut of a Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collectors Edition. A Polish website now has images that appear to be exactly that. Warner Bros. Home Video has yet to confirm or deny their legitimacy but these look so good, we figured they’re worth your time. Read More »

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
People tend to put filmmakers and film fans into strict categories; someone might be a comedy guy, a drama person, a horror fan or a superhero admirer. For example, no one would expect a filmmaker like Lars Von Trier to be a huge fanboy for Disney movies. He probably isn’t of course, but it’s just an extreme, hypothetical example of how we tend to presume peoples tastes.
Writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson makes difficult movies. Some more so than others, but he’s never played to the audience with simple, happy endings or huge action set pieces. Raw emotion, language and tense situations are constantly on display and these are things many people don’t want when they go to the movies. Those people want Christopher Nolan films. Huge action, sweeping spectacle, but with just enough thematic resonance to feel like they’re more than some run of the mill action movie. On the surface, one would think these two filmmakers occupy opposite sides of the spectrum.
That might be the case, but while promoting his latest film, The Master, Anderson was revealed that he’s a huge fan of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. Read his quotes after the jump. Read More »
2013 is the 90th anniversary of Warner Bros., and besides a strong slate of theatrical films, the company has some very surprising – and not so surprising – plans for the home market. The biggest news is they’re planning 3D conversion of the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz for Blu-ray, coupled with a likely, limited theatrical run. There will also be an Extended Edition of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and a Ultimate Collector’s Edition of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, both of which will upgrades from Blu-ray releases with less features.
