In the age of Facebook, finding out which of your high school friends got fat, rich, and/or married is a simple matter of entering their name into a search bar. But an entire movie centered around people “liking” baby photos or approving friend requests isn’t likely to be very exciting, so in 10 Years a group of old friends decides to actually converge in the flesh for their high school reunion.
The film’s bound to draw some attention for its cast alone: Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Lynn Collins, Rosario Dawson, Kate Mara, Chris Pratt, Ari Graynor, Justin Long, Anthony Mackie, Ron Livingston, Aubrey Plaza, Oscar Isaac, Scott Porter, and Brian Geraghty all star. Watch the first trailer after the jump, and make sure you stick around for the adorably awkward old photos at the end.

If you’re more interested in the typical fall slate of festival entrees than summer’s glut of tentpole action fare, this is a great week. The Toronto International Film Festival announced the first wave of films that will play the fest in September. This is a batch of about 50 titles, which makes up only a small chunk of the programming. Usually TIFF features between two and three hundred films. But these are some of the highest-profile entries.
Below you’ll find rundowns on the new films from George Clooney, Bennett Miller, Jay & Mark Duplass, Todd Solondz, Francis Ford Coppola, Cameron Crowe, Sarah Polley, Fernando Meirelles, Lars von Trier, Marc Forster, Steve McQueen, Alexander Payne, and Lynne Ramsay. No announcement yet of the Midnight Madness programming choices, always some of my faves, but this is a great start. Read More »
Hot off the $125 million (and counting) success of Little Fockers, director Paul Weitz has chosen his next project and is just about ready to lock up his leading lady. Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress Tina Fey is in final talks to star in Admission, based on a novel by Jean Hanff Korelitz. The film, which is being put together by Universal from a script by Karen Croner, centers on an admissions officer at Princeton who develops a relationship with a student who is not quite Princeton material.
In addition, John Michael Higgins, the hilarious character actor best known for his roles in the Christopher Guest movies, has joined the already stellar cast for Cameron Crowe‘s We Bought a Zoo and Ron Livingston (Office Space, Swingers) has signed on to join Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton in Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green, about a couple who wishes for a child. Livingston will also be part of the ensemble high school reunion film Ten Year. Read more after the jump. Read More »
