And yet, some shows can recover when they have the right champions, like DC’s planned Teen Titans series, which may not be as dead as previously indicated. Meanwhile, WGN has officially pulled the plug on the critically acclaimed but under-watched Manhattan, retroactively transforming its season two finale into a series finale.

The Teen Titans have been the stars of many comics stories and animated in a multiple TV series, but they’ve never made the leap to live-action. Akiva Goldsman was trying to make a movie at one point, but now he and TNT are near a pilot order for a show called simply Titans. The live-action Teen Titans series would probably be closer to the “New Titans” incarnation of the character set, with a 20-something Nightwing (formerly Batman’s sidekick Robin) leading a team of other heroes and former sidekicks.  Read More »

The Hollywood Reporter has a good article updating DC Comics‘ Hollywood plans. Not much new information to come by, but an interesting read. The one thing I learned from the update is that Warners quietly hired three of DC’s biggest writers last fall as consultants and writers for their upcoming superhero projects — Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison and Marv Wolfman.
