Two Snow White films have been in production since summer, and we’ve already seen images from one, the action-oriented Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart as Snow White. Now here are the first images from the other, Relativity and Tarsem‘s currently untitled Snow White movie starring Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer and Lily Collins.
These pics show Collins as Snow White, surrounded by dwarfs; Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen; and Armie Hammer as the prince. They suggest a sort of family-friendly comedy. We knew the film would have a comedic tone, but this is more bright than I expected. Check out more images below. Read More »

Unless you’ve been staring into your mirror, mirror on the wall for the past year, you know there are two competing Snow White films being released in 2012. There’s Universal’s dark, epic action film Snow White and the Huntsman, directed by Rupert Sanders, starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron and then there’s Relativity’s lighter, family-oriented Snow White, directed by Tarsem Singh, starring Lily Collins (above), Armie Hammer and Julia Roberts. The former is scheduled for June while the latter will be out in March.
While both projects are still in production and very much shrouded in secrecy (save for some concept photos here and there) screenwriter Jason Keller, who wrote the Singh project, has revealed some interesting behind the scenes details about the film. It’s a “comedic adventure,” was scouting locations before the script was done and was sped up as a direct result of the other project. There’s much more after the jump. Read More »

Here’s the third trailer for Tarsem‘s stylishly violent Immortals. (See the first and second ones if you haven’t already.)
I like this trailer a lot more than either of the previous ones; there’s a good voiceover that explains the background and early plot beats, and helps contextualize some of the pretty shots we’ve been seeing in previous trailers and clips. A few new shots offer additional eye-candy, too. While I remain unconvinced that this will really work as a piece of storytelling (it still looks a bit like a Dune/Clash of the Titans mashup) I can at least get a much better idea of what Tarsem is looking to accomplish. Check it out below. Read More »

Right at the start of Relativity’s Hall H panel for their swords and sandal, Gods and Titans epic film Immortals, director Tarsem Singh was quick to say that the trailers that have been released for the film are for everyone. The film itself, he said, was darker and “more hardcore” than those trailers suggested. To bolster his point, he showed an extended sort of red band trailer and then a pivotal action scene that takes place late in the movie. Oh, and he also paraded out stars Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz and Frieda Pinto. Read about the footage and find out if Tarsem is telling the truth after the jump. Read More »

Sean Bean has made a career of being around royalty in epic fantasy. He was the heir to the Steward of Gondor in The Lord of the Rings, he played the hand of the King in Game of Thrones and now, finally, he’s getting his own kingdom. He’s about to be cast as Snow White’s father, the King, in Tarsem Singh‘s Snow White. That’s the Relativity, Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, family friendly one. Not the Universal, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, action one. Read more after the jump. Read More »

A second trailer for Tarsem‘s Immortals — aka his Fight Club + Caravaggio + Clash of the Titans + 300 — has arrived. There isn’t a lot of new footage within, but there is a much greater focus on story this time out. If you watched the first trailer and wondered what the hell the movie is about, this one might help you understand. Read More »
