Titan Books has released Sweeney Todd: The Official Movie Companion, a must have for fans of the new Tim Burton film.

Tim Burton sat down with David Poland for a 40 minute interview to talk about his latest film, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I really love long form interviews, and there are few directors in Hollywood that I find more interesting than Tim Burton (at least as a person). The most interesting part of the interview comes near the end where Burton admits that Green Screens give him a headache, and talks about his feelings on the advancements in technology. I agree with Burton, technology shouldn’t be used just because we have it. It’s something better assessed project to project, depending on what the story calls for. [...]
Paramount has sent us three new stills and a television advertisement (titled “Forgive”) from Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The film is of course based on the hit Broadway musical which tells the infamous story of Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp), a.k.a Sweeney Todd, who sets up a barber shop down in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter). The photos also feature Alan Rickman as Judge Turpin, and Jamie Campbell Bower as Anthony Hope. Check out the photos and video below. Click on the images to enlarge.
A new character poster (seen right) and batch of production photos from Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street has hit the interwebs. I’m hearing a lot of great advance buzz for this one. Check out the stills after the jump. As always, left click to enlarge.
Official Plot Synopsis: JOHNNY DEPP and Tim Burton join forces again in a big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical thriller “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” DEPP stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his [...]
A new Sweeney Todd Movie Trailer has found it’s way onto the interwebs. This one features less singing and music (not that the first one featured too much), and more than expected blood and gore. It looks like Paramount is going to market this film to a couple different audiences, and this may be our first peek at what the horror/thriller advertising will look like. Check out the trailer after the jump.
A couple days ago we reported that Warner Bros executives were apparently unhappy with the extremely gory early footage from Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. And now distributor Dreamworks have announced that they are releasing the film wide on Christmas (December 21st). Is this new announcement part of a PR counter attack? Well, I certainly question the timing.
The original plan was to give the film a limited release on the 21st, before going wide on January 11th, 2008. Variety claims that DreamWorks executives now believe the film has mass appeal after seeing a few clips. Hmmmm may-be this does gel with our earlier report that [...]
Warner Bros wants Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street director Tim Burton to “butcher” his own film, according to a report from the Daily Mail. Apparently the early footage from the film was so extremely bloody that the studio executives have become a tad squeamish and are requesting the film to be re-cut. In its present form the film would merit an R-Rating, but the studio would prefer it to be released with a PG-13 MPAA tag.
“Tim’s not happy that the studio is asking for so many cuts to the cutting, as it were,” someone connected to the film told the Daily Mail. “The thing is, the [...]
