Lionsgate is running a SAW marathon in some cities on October 25th starting at 6:00pm. So if you want to see the whole Jigsaw series from the beginning, this may be your chance. I’m not sure exactly how this will be run, if there will be a break or intermission (I assume that will be the case), but it seems like a great idea. And SAW 4 will be shown at midnight, how great is that? I wish more movie franchises would do something like this.
When I met with Steven Spielberg last week, he was asked about the possibility of seeing the originally Indy trilogy on the big screen prior [...]

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finally wrapped this week, but only after shooting at Chandler Field in Fresno, CA. Brodie Mash went over to field and watched on with excitement as Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg (who was heard, but not seen) were shooting a scene that takes place at a circa 1950 Mexico City airport. You can see a photo of Harrison Ford in full Indy gear exiting a trailer to the right. Indy 4 has been in production since June 16th 2007.
A crew of 150 worked on the scene. In another take they painted “Branford” on the airport tower, likely [...]

I just got off the Universal backlot where Indiana Jones 4 is currently a few days from wrapping production.  A small group of online press including myself were invited  by Steven Spielberg himself to reward the online press for aiding in the capture of a thief who stole thousands of photographs, scripts and the budget from the Indy offices on the Universal backlot. We got 20 minutes with the man behind some of the greatest films of the last 30+ years. No, it was not a dream. Yes, it did actually happen. We grilled Spielberg about everything from Indy to the future of cinema to his upcoming collaboration with Peter [...]

There was a break-in at the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull production offices on the Universal lot, which resulted in the loss of 2,500 production photos (including close-ups of all the props including the Crystal skulls and many more spoiler filled photos),the 400-page production budget for the film, and possible scripts and hard drives.
The thief tried to offer the goods to a couple online entertainment websites for a reported cost of $2000. If the massive amounts of spoilers were to hit the internet, it could have been EXTREMELY damaging to this upcoming blockbuster sequel. Who knows what kind of effect it could have had on the [...]

British screenwriter Steve Moffatt (Doctor Who, Coupling) has been hired write an adaptation of the Eurpean comic strip The Adventures of Tintin for Dreamworks. As you already know,  Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackscon have signed on to direct a trilogy of films based on Georges Remi’s Belgian. It’s a passion project. Spielberg has been trying to get the film rights to the series for more than 25 years. The films will be created using digital 3D performance capture technology.
The Adventures of Tintin is a 70 years series of Belgian comic books originally created by Belgian artist Hergé, the pen name of Georges Remi. The series follows Tintin, a young Belgian [...]

Sally Field (Forrest Gump, Mrs. Doubtfire) has signed on to play Mary Todd, the wife of the sixteenth President of the United States in Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. Based on the biography by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin (Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln), Liam Neeson (Star Wars: Episode I, Batman Begins) will play Abraham Lincoln, as he guides the North to victory during the Civil War.
Marcia Gay Harden had long been rumored to play the first lady, who was committed to an insane asylum in her elder years after three of her four kids didn’t live to adulthood, and her husband was shot as he held [...]

Paramount made a very bad decision earlier this week when it was announced an exclusive partnership with HD-DVD. HD-DVD is clearly the losing format at this point in the next gen format war. Most of the other studios have decided to support Blu-Ray. Nikki Finke is reporting that the HD-DVD camp is paying over $150 million for the “promotional consideration” exclusivity.
A fallout is starting to occur, not from consumers, but from the creative side. After the Paramount announcement, long-time Spielberg spokesman Marvin Levy told High Def Digest:
”It was important to Steven that if any of his films were to be released [first] on high-definition, that it would be a classic. [...]

IndianaJones.com has been updated with a new video diary “Reuniting The Family”. Director Steven Spielberg, Producers George Lucas, Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy, and star Harrison Ford talk about coming back for a fourth film. It seems like most of the interviews were done before production. The package is cut to clips from the first three films. So there is nothing really new to be found in this one, but it may be worth a watch. Check it out now at IndianaJones.com.

BloodyDisgusting reports that Universal Pictures has begun casting for Jurassic Park IV. Apparently the new film involves dinosaurs which have been outfitted with weapons by the US government (presumably for battle purposes). If this is true, than Universal should shut down production right now. It’s one thing to expect such stupidity from the recent batch of direct-to-dvd sequels, but a big budget Spielberg produced sequel? Steven, please say it ain’t so!
Why is it that most good movie franchises are ruined by ridiculous plot concepts? The studios seem to believe that the higher the number next to the movie title, the more ridiculous the story must become. I would think that [...]

Once is still one of my favorite movies of 2007. The little indie Irish-made musical (would you even call it a musical?) released earlier this year is still selling chugging away at the independent box office. It seems like uber-director Steven Spielberg has also fallen in love with the film.
“A little movie called Once gave me enough inspiration to last the rest of the year,” said Steven Spielberg to USA Today.
I’m sure that quote will end up on the eventual DVD release.

For months George Lucas and Steven Spielberg promised that Sean Connery’s character (Dr. Henry Jones Sr.) was included in the script for Indiana Jones 4. So when the film went into production and Connery announced that he would not be back after-all, we cried fowl.
I hope Conner’s part was very small, for their sake. Because a major character rewrite this late in to development could ruin the entire film.
I mean, Lucas and crew couldn’t have completely delete Connery’s part out of the script without causing a major rift, right? Well, our friends at FilmIck are reporting that Abner Ravenwood was not even included in previous drafts. When Connery made his [...]

Note: This article was posted live from Comic Con during the panel. So please excuse us if we dont go into many details on some stories. I’m typing as fast and accurately as we can. :)
6,500 people have packed the big exhibition hall (which looks like a very large warehouse or airport hanger) for the Paramount panel. Before the panel we got the usual lecture about not video taping the video and photo presentations. Apparently last year a few things turned up on YouTube. Te program director warns us that if this keeps happening that the studio will stop bringing the great footage to the con.
They announced this year that [...]

It isn’t exactly news: Dreamworks and Paramount are not the big happy family that everyone imagined 15 months ago.
Despite the insistence of Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone, director Steven Spielberg is said to be so unhappy with the current situation that he may be planning to defect from the company with David Geffin. The duo own rights to the DreamWorks name, but don’t hold ownership of their past catalog and current development deals. It is also likely that the team would lose most, if not all, of their staff.
Redstone went public with the firing of star and producer Tom Cruise last year, we resulted in the rebirth of United Artists. It [...]

Sometimes there is nothing better than a great behind the scenes documentary. The doc on the DVD release of JAWS is extensive, and a must watch, but it’s essentially a version of the documentary which was released on the laserdisc and earlier video releases. A bunch of fans came together to create a fan documentary about the film, about the phenomenon, and about the fans. I remember hearing about this movie when they first started filming it. It’s now years later, and the crew have interviewed almost every living person alive that had something to do with the film. Everyone from Steven Spielberg to the guy who did the voiceover [...]

I like many people I’ve met was a huge fan of Aaron Sorkin’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Apparently none of us have Nielsen boxes, and the show has been canceled. Sorkin is still very busy in Hollywood, and has signed a deal to write three films for DreamWorks. The first film will be The Trail of the Chicago 7, a drama that Steven Spielberg hopes to one day direct.
The film will focus on the famous 1960’s trials of protesters of the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago. I saw a docudrama on the events at Sundance called Chicago 10. It mixed archival footage with computer animated sequences to show [...]
