“Enough with performance art. It’s time for protest art.”

I bet we won’t see anything funnier today than the Step Up Revolution trailer. This thing is pure gold. Every two years a new Step Up film is conceived in a mirrored studio deep in a secret bunker; it’s like a dance cocoon. Because Jon M. Chu, who directed the second and third films, moved on to make the G.I. Joe sequel, this fourth film, formerly saddled with the dullsville title Step Up 4, brings in video and dance director Scott Speer.

And since Baltimore and New York City don’t offer quite enough mini-skirts and hyper-polished cars from which to leap, the action has been moved to Miami. Perhaps I’m the only one, but when I think of Miami, I think of Cuba, and when I think of Cuba I think ┬íRevoluci├│n! And that’s just what the fourth movie offers. Revolution. IN DANCE.
