Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Lily James, and Richard Madden are also set to star, with Kenneth Branagh directing. Hit the jump to find out whom Skarsgard is playing.

Since her Oscar-nominated breakthrough performance in 2010’s True Grit, Hailee Steinfeld has mostly kept out of the limelight. In fact, she hasn’t appeared in a single movie since then. But with half a dozen releases planned for the next couple of years (including Ender’s Game, Can a Song Save Your Life, and Three Days to Kill) she now looks ready to make up for lost time.
Among the many projects on her slate is the Carlo Carlei-directed, Julian Fellowes-scripted Romeo and Juliet. Steinfeld and rising star Douglas Booth play the iconic star-crossed lovers, surrounded by a talented if somewhat random cast that also includes Paul Giamatti, Damian Lewis, Natasha McElhone, Ed Westwick, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Stellan Skarsgård, and Lesley Manville. Check out the new trailer after the jump. Read More »
It’s always difficult to rely upon an interview run through one of the various automatic translators on the internet, no matter how good the babel fish in question might be. So take what follows with a slightly elastic spirit — unless you speak Swedish, and want to verify the translation of the original text.
Stellan Skarsgard talked to Moviezine in Sweden and discussed a couple of his upcoming films — Thor 2, and Lars von Trier‘s Nymphomaniac — as well as a film that he isn’t yet cast in, to the best of his knowledge. (That would be The Avengers 2, which is far enough out right now that no one is really cast in it.)
Aside from mentioning that he’d let his kids watch Nymphomaniac — seeing sex is better than seeing violence is essentially his comment — nothing Skarsgard says is too far out there. But if you’re looking for info on either of those two projects, press on. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Today, Lars von Trier begins shooting his new film(s) Nymphomaniac, which tell “the wild and poetic story of a woman’s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50.” If things go as planned, the final release will be split into two films, with hardcore and softcore versions of each. Shooting in Germany and Belgium, the project stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as Joe, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac of the title, and the participation of Stellan Skarsgård and Shia LaBeouf is confirmed by a press release announcing the start of production.
That same press release confirms other actors and reveals some new names that will be part of the story, too: Stacy Martin (as young Joe), Jamie Bell, Connie Nielsen, Mia Goth, Jens Albinus, Severin von Hoensbroech, Peter Gilberg Cotton, Nicolas Bro, Tabea Tarbiat, Janine Romanowski, Jesper Christensen, Tania Carlin, Felicity Gilbert and Shanti Roney.

The Avengers won’t hit DVD and Blu-ray until late September but some of the special features are beginning to pop up online, including a must-see 4-minute long blooper/gag reel. After the jump you’ll also find a two minute extended scene between Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård) preparing and planning. While you can definitely see why this scene was shortened, its interesting to see the conversation that was lost on the editing room floor.

This is a weekend we’ve been thinking about for quite some time. The Avengers have finally assembled.
I’ve seen the movie and I can assure you that, yes, it is tremendous fun. One of the key reasons for this is the casting – it’s just terrific. Everyone plays off one another so nicely and there is no weak link.
To celebrate Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (and those they share the stage with) this week’s TBMYPHS is dedicated to the members of this amazing team up, and the work they did before getting their action figure on. Read More »
