Son of Zorn details

Zorn himself made a surprise appearance at the Television Critics Association panel for Son of Zorn, the new comedy from producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Zorn is an animated character voiced by Jason Sudeikis, a barbarian warrior from the island of Zephyria who returns to the States to spend more time with his son Alan (Johnny Pemberton). Since the animated Zorn could not appear on stage, he called in with a cell phone video comparing critics to warriors like himself.

Phil Lord & Chris Miller have effectively worked their magic on the big screen with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street (and its equally as good sequel) and The LEGO Movie. But on the small screen, they’ve also delivered great comedy with Clone High and Last Man on Earth. Now they’re bringing even more laughs to TV with two new series.

Son of Zorn

What’s more difficult: trying to reconnect with your live-action family or fighting a war in a faraway animated land? According to Son of Zorn executive producers Phil Lord & Chris Miller (The Lego Movie), the former scenario is the greater obstacle to face. In the half live-action/animated hybrid Fox project, Zorn (Jason Sudeikis) struggles to connect with his ex-wife (Cheryl Hines) and his teenage son (Johnny Pemberton), as he tries to adjust to his new mundane lifestyle.

Jason Sudeikis in Horrible Bosses 2

Phil Lord and Chris Miller have found a leading man for their new project. No, not the Han Solo spinoff — Son of Zorn, their live-action / animation hybrid series for Fox. Jason Sudeikis will play Zorn, an animated barbarian struggling to reconnect with his life-action family.
