Twin Peaks just keeps getting more crowded. Jennifer Jason Leigh will appear in Showtime’s David Lynch revival, along with returning stars Kyle MacLachlan and Sheryl Lee, and new stars Balthazar Getty, Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard, and Robert Knepper. In addition, there’s word Lynch wants to bring on Mulholland Drive star Naomi Watts. Read More »
Twin Peaks isn’t just back — there’s more of it coming than anyone expected.
The return of Twin Peaks has already become a saga, with Showtime setting up a nine-episode third season to air in 2016, with David Lynch directing all episodes and co-writing with Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost. Then Lynch bailed on the series, reportedly over budget and deal issues. But Showtime worked things out with Lynch, and the director returned, just in time for Showtime to announce the third season had expanded from its original nine-episode order.
We didn’t know much more than that. What would be the final Twin Peaks season three episode count? And who else will return to the series now that Lynch is fully on board? During a convention appearance, Sheryl Lee and Sherilyn Fenn revealed some details. Notably, that the series order has doubled, and there’s a suggestion that Angelo Badalamenti, the musical voice of the show, is also coming back. Read More »
Two more original residents of Twin Peaks are going back to the town (or at least the show) for its return in 2016. Sheryl Lee, who played both Laura Palmer and Maddy Ferguson, was given the all-clear by writer/director David Lynch to announce that she and Dana Ashbook, who played Bobby Briggs, are both part of the cast for Twin Peaks season 3. Below, watch the pair announce that to an audience of Twin Peaks fans, in a Q&A that also suggests Sherilyn Fenn is set to return as Audrey as well. Read More »
Last week we got the great news that Twin Peaks would finally hit Blu-ray. Not just the show, but all of it. Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery will collect both seasons of the television show, the prequel film Fire Walk With Me, and over an hour of deleted scenes and outtakes from Fire Walk With Me. Some of that deleted footage features characters that didn’t make the cut in the final film, which means it will be our first “new” look at some of those Peaks stalwarts since the show went off the air in 1991.
There are other bonus features in the set, too, and one of the most highly anticipated is Between Two Worlds. The segment features David Lynch talking with the actors who played the Palmer family — Ray Wise, who was father Leland, Grace Zabriske, who played mother Sarah, and Sheryl Lee, who played Laura Palmer. (And who also played Laura’s cousin Madeleine Ferguson.) The segment isn’t just Lynch talking to the actors, but also talking to them in character as the Palmer family. We don’t know if Lynch will also be in character as FBI Agent Gordon Cole.
