You’ll be able to see the new trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger this evening (it hits at 7:30 EST) but for now we’ve got a new poster that puts the heroic profile of star Chris Evans front and center. Advance word on the film, by way of a long-lead press screening or two, is very very good, and the movie is really starting to look like the summer action picture to beat. In a casting break from a week or so back we announced quite a few names for The Baytown Disco, which has Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria starring in a story of ” three redneck brothers who get more than they bargained for when agreeing to help a woman get her son back from his seemingly abusive father.”
Daniel Cudmore and Travis Fimmel were just cast as two of those brothers; the previously cast Clayne Crawford will be the third. Andrew Barugher has also been added, but we don’t know for what role. Barry Battles co-write the script with Griffin Hood, and he’ll direct the film in Lousiana starting next week. [THR]

Two films got release dates today: A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas and Seth MacFarlane‘s directorial debut Ted both have spots on the calendar. Marvel Entertainment has released a new batch of photos from Joe Johnston‘s big screen adaptation of Captain America: The First Avenger. Some of these photos have appeared in magazines (which may have appeared scanned online), but others are completely new. All of them are high resolution. Earlier today, some low resolution scans revealed our first look at Bucky Barnes, Captain America’s sidekick played by Sebastian Stan in Captain America: The First Avenger. As has been the case with this film, Marvel has retaliated by releasing an official image of the character and director Joe Johnston has come out to discuss him, saying that their version of Bucky is “slightly on the dark side.” Check out the image and read the quote below. Here are three new images from Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger, which come from the French edition of Premiere. Two of them are nothing too new: a good shot of the Hydra footsoldiers that we’ve seen in other pics, and another shot of bad guy the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) with his human face on. Briefly: Anthony LaPaglia is producing and appearing in a film version of Arthur Miller‘s 1955 play A View From A Bridge, which landed him a Tony in 1998. The production has assembled a strong cast: Vera Farmiga and Mia Wasikowska are the new additions, rounding out the previously cast trio of Mr. LaPaglia, Sebastian Stan and Sam Niell. Andrew Bovell (Edge of Darkness) wrote and Robert Connolly will direct.
The story is set in 1950′s Brooklyn, and LaPaglia will play Eddie, with Ms. Farmiga as his wife Beatrice, and Ms. Wasikowska as their young niece Catherine, whom they raised. And then, “when the arrival of Beatrice’s cousins from Italy enchants young Catherine, Eddie is consumed by jealousy and obsession that ultimately ends in tragedy.”
FYI, this is the second time Anthony LaPaglia has tried to get this production going; the first was in 2005 with Barry Levinson directing and Scarlett Johansson and Frances McDormand in roles. This time it looks like it’s going to happen, though. Shooting is planned for June. [Variety]

A couple weeks ago, Sebastian Stan was on the rumored list of actors in whom Marvel was interested for the role of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. That role went to Chris Evans, but Stan must have made some impression on Marvel. (Or he’s got a great agent.) The actor has been cast as Bucky, who is essentially this story’s version of Robin.
