Roughly seven decades will have passed between Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) will learn the hard way that the past still has a way of catching up with you.
Those familiar with the comics know that the new film’s title refers to James “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Cap’s onetime BFF who returns as a powerful nemesis. We’ve still got some time to wait before we see the two cross paths, as The Winter Soldier doesn’t land until next spring. But a just-revealed bit of concept art hints at what their fiery showdown might look like. Check it out after the jump. Read More »

Comic Con kicks off next week and you can expect to hear about the first footage from Captain America: The Winter Soldier during Marvel’s Hall H presentation next Saturday. In the meantime, here’s a teaser poster for the film, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and starring Chris Evans as the title character and Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier.
The image suggests that things are a little more complicated for Cap this time out — with all that paint scraped off his shield, there’s both the sense that he’s been getting a workout, and that basic affiliations aren’t as clear-cut as they once were. (Those who’ve read the original Winter Soldier storyline in the comics understand a lot more, but we won’t say more at the moment.)

It’s easy to forget how insanely ambitious Marvel’s Phase One plan seemed back in 2008, when the first Iron Man movie was all we’d seen so far. But now that the strategy’s turned out to be a smashing success, Marvel’s challenge will be to clear that high bar again in Phase Two.
Fortunately for them and for us, so far it looks like they’ll manage to do just that. Iron Man 3, which opens this weekend, is drawing strong reviews all over, and what we’ve seen and heard of Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier seems very promising. After the jump, check out a new image from the former, a bit of concept art from the latter, and Kevin Feige‘s comments on both.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set for release one year from now, on April 4, 2014. So that’s exactly how long directors Anthony and Joe Russo will have to complete the film. Principal photography began Monday, and Disney released the first image along with a full press release. The release confirms the returns of Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, and the presence of new additions Robert Redford, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Georges St. Pierre and others. The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled Box Set was finally released Tuesday and, in it, Marvel opened the curtain a bit in regards to Phase Two. We’ve already seen too much from Iron Man 3, but we’ve seen almost nothing (official, at least) from the next three films: Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. That’s no longer the case after this post.
A few concept images from Guardians of the Galaxy made it online Tuesday morning, along with a featurette, but now there’s much more. Now you look at stills from a Captain America: The Winter Soldier anamatic and concept images of how both Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and the Winter Soldier (Sebastan Stan) will look. If that’s not enough, screencaps of Thor: The Dark World footage give us our first real, good look at that movie. And, for good measure, how about a few more Guardians concept images including Rocket Raccoon?

UPDATE: Sebastian Stan is confirmed to return as Bucky in the film.
For Marvel fans, the last few days have been head-spinning. New titles for the Thor and Captain America sequels, the official announcement of Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man test footage, Iron Man 3 details including Ben Kingsley as the Mandarin, the list goes on and on. They’re now adding to the madness as Anthony Mackie is in talks to join Joe and Anthony Russo‘s Captain America: The Winter Solider, possibly playing a superhero named Falcon. Late August usually brings a bunch of studio horror movies and 2012 is no exception. A trailer has just arrived for one of them, The Apparition, starring Ashley Greene (Twilight), Tom Felton (Harry Potter) and Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The First Avenger).
The film is about a group of people who set out to test the theory that ghosts and goblins only exist because people believe in them. Turns out, they were right, and they unleash something that feeds off your fear. Seems to be a little bit Nightmare on Elm Street, a little bit Paranormal Activity and a little bit The Ring. Todd Lincoln‘s The Apparition opens August 24. Check out the trailer and poster for the film after the jump. Read More »

The first trailer has dropped for Gone, Heitor Dhalia‘s thriller about a young woman named Jill (Amanda Seyfried) who comes home to find that her sister Molly (Emily Wickersham) has mysteriously vanished. Jill is sure Molly’s been kidnapped by the same serial killer Jill escaped from two years prior, but the police aren’t convinced — so Jill takes matters into her own hands to rescue her sister.
It’s a standard-issue thriller premise, and there’s not much about the trailer that really sets Gone apart from dozens of similar movies. (The utterly forgettable, SEO-unfriendly title doesn’t help matters, either.) Still, there’s always the possibility it’ll wind up a satisfying if not especially imaginative take on the genre, and Seyfried usually makes for a compelling lead. Watch the trailer after the jump.
