Comic books rule television right now. And I’m not just talking about The CW, who have found such incredibles success with Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, or CBS, whose Supergirl has received such a warm response. There are days where it’s easy to forget the The Walking Dead, the most popular show on TV and a genuine phenomenon, began its existence as a comic series. “Comic book adaptation” doesn’t have to mean “superhero story.”
And there are tons of incredible, non-superhero comics sitting in the wings, waiting for someone to pick them up and transform them into television series. Next in line appears to be Scalped, which one of the best crime comics I have ever read and one of Vertigo comics’ most unique and thrilling series. WGN has ordered a pilot episode, so keep your fingers crossed – this could be something special.
