Briefly: This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone familiar with the timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but along with the news that Frank Grillo will be Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (and the previously annoucned news that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow would appear), Variety reports Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders will reprise their roles at Nick Fury and Maria Hill in Cap’s second solo adventure.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Captain America: The Winter Soldier also stars Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and is set for release April 4, 2014. Read More »

At this point, it feels like we’ve seen more trailers for December’s Django Unchained than we have for a lot of October and November releases. Not that I’d think of complaining, when they’re all this much fun.
The latest international trailer remixes some of the same footage we’ve already seen, but offers enough new scenes to give us a fresh angle on the personalities and motivations of the main players – Django (Jamie Foxx), Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), and Broomhilda (Kerry Washington). And of course, there’s more than enough wit, style, and violence to remind you that this is a Quentin Tarantino movie. Watch the new trailer after the jump.

Don’t hide your excitement about having a new Quentin Tarantino movie to discuss in about two months. That movie, Django Unchained, follows a slave (Jamie Foxx) freed by a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) with the two then teaming up to search for the slave’s wife (Kerry Washington) who is under the control of a plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). I describe the film in these basic terms because a new set of character posters has done the same. They put the actors in these complex roles front and center. Simple and clean.
The film will be released on December 25 but you can look at the posters right now.

December has more than its fair share of highly anticipated titles, but somehow we suspect Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained will have no trouble setting itself apart from the pack. The second full-length domestic trailer for the “Southern-fried Western” offers plenty of juicy new footage, including better looks at stars Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jonah Hill. Even better, it does a bang-up job of showing off Tarantino’s twisted sense of humor and kinetic style. Watch it after the jump.

As one Paul Verhoeven remake plops into theaters, another one is gearing up to start shooting. Fortunately for us, Jose Padilha‘s RoboCop already looks much more promising than Len Wiseman’s Total Recall ever did.
For one thing, Padilha is assembling a top-notch cast. Joel Kinnaman has been set to play the lead for some time now, but in the last few months Padilha’s been busy locking down some other interesting talents like Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Samuel L. Jackson, and Hugh Laurie. The newest member of that roster is now Jennifer Ehle, a two-time Tony winner last seen in Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion and the CBS drama A Gifted Man. José Padilha has rounded up an impressive array of talent for his new Robocop remake, and the latest additions are no exception. A new report has surfaced today indicating that Jackie Earle Haley is now signed on, while Jay Baruchel is said to be circling a key role. The two join a cast that already includes Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Laurie, Abbie Cornish, and of course, Joel Kinnaman as Robocop himself. More details after the jump.

Quentin Tarantino and Jamie Foxx were part of the BET awards tonight, and they didn’t show up empty-handed. A new 60-second spot for Tarantino’s upcoming movie Django Unchained debuted during the show, and has now appeared online.
This spot features a new overt nod to classic spaghetti westerns, as the beginning of the spot features some of Ennio Morricone’s track ‘The Ecstasy of Gold,’ as heard in the climax of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. (There’s a beat thrown over the track; could that be some RZA work? Edit: nope, and it’s not Jay-Z’s ‘Blueprint2,’ it sounds like the Baldini remix of the Morricone theme. )
The ad also has one of the few brief flashes we’ve seen of Samuel L. Jackson in his role for the film, as well as a couple other small bits of new footage. This year’s got a lot of life in it yet, but Tarantino’s picture is one good reason to look forward to December.

While the new video hits most of the same beats, explaining how bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) comes to join forces with slave Django (Jamie Foxx) to track down the murderous Brittler brothers and rescue Django’s wife (Kerry Washington), the new video offers some fresh new footage and dialogue along the way.
