Late last week, we got our first peek at Barely Lethal, starring Samuel L. Jackson as the mentor to a teen assassin played by Hailee Steinfeld. Today, we have our first peek at Kite, starring Samuel L. Jackson as mentor to a teen assassin played by India Eisley. The difference is that this time around, we’re looking at a gritty, anime-based actioner, rather than a Mean Girls-esque comedy.
Eisley leads as Sawa, a young girl left orphaned after her policeman father is killed. Under the guidance of her dad’s ex-partner Karl Aker (Jackson), she trains as a killer and sets out to avenge her parents. Callan McAuliffe (I Am Number Four) also stars. For a moment this summer, David Yates‘ Tarzan looked like it could be shut down for good. But now that it’s back on track, it seems to be chugging along at a good speed.
The Edgar Rice Burroughs-based adventure has been amassing quite an interesting cast, with Alexander Skarsgard attached to play the King of the Jungle and Christoph Waltz on board for the villain. In next year’s Need for Speed, Dominic Cooper is easy to peg as the bad guy. But in Reasonable Doubt, he plays a guy involved in a weirder car-based crime. He seems to be involved in a pretty straight-forward hit-and-run death, which is bad. But it puts him in contact with a mysterious dude played by Samuel L. Jackson, and that turns out to be really bad.
Check out a trailer for the thriller below. Read More »

Most of the Robocop marketing so far has focused on, well, Robocop (Joel Kinnaman). But before he was Robocop, he was a plain old human known as Alex Murphy — and as the latest international trailer reminds us, Alex is lurking inside of him still.
While there’s more than enough action to go around in this new promo, the real focus is on the very human cost of Omnicorp’s new robot police force. It seems that being brought to the brink of death and then revived as a freakish android-man hybrid tends to take an emotional toll on a guy. Watch the video after the jump.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
If Samuel L. Jackson can tell the world Elizabeth Olsen is in Avengers: Age of Ultron, maybe he can also tell us Mark Hamill isn’t in Star Wars Episode VII. Though the actor who portrayed Luke Skywalker has reportedly been working out for a likely return to the series, Jackson spoke to him recently and Hamill told him director J.J. Abrams has not been in touch. Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequels, said the same thing to Jackson. Neither has had a phone call from the film’s writer, director and producer.
Does that mean there’s a chance Luke Skywalker isn’t in Star Wars Episode VII? Read More »
