Netflix buys Beasts of No Nation

Netflix recently began making inroads into distributing theatrical-quality films, and now they’re just about ready to show off the results. The company has announced scheduling for four upcoming movies: Cary Fukunaga‘s Beasts of No Nation, Adam Sandler‘s The Ridiculous Six, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend, and Pee-wee’s Big Holiday.

Adam Sandler‘s first picture for Netflix is taking shape. Sandler is set to star in Ridiculous 6 with Taylor Lautner, Rob Schneider, Luke Wilson, and Terry Crews. Last we heard about the possible sequel to Black Dynamite, Michael Jai White was saying that they were designing the sequel as “a western comedy in that spirit of Blazing Saddles.” But whenever that happens, and I very much hope that it does, there might already be competition from another western comedy.

I don’t want to damn this one before it is even written, but Adam Sandler will co-write the film, called Ridiculous 6, which seems to be a play on The Magnificent Seven. Read More »
