By now, you probably know if you’re going to see Pixels or not. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film stars Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, Kevin James and Michelle Monaghan as former video game champions who are asked to save the world when real life video game characters invade Earth. Think Independence Day starring the cast of The King of Kong.
If you still aren’t sure and are hoping for some new nugget to get excited about in this second Pixels trailer, it’s probably not going to do it. There is some new footage in here, including a bit with Kevin James killing a Smurf, as well as some background on the characters, but for the most part its the same few set pieces as the last trailer. The optimist in me is hoping Sony is simply holding back lots of other moments for the theater, but that tends not to be the case with the films of James and Sandler. Much as we admire Peter Dinklage‘s ability to steal every scene he’s in, it kinda seems like he shouldn’t have to. It’s about time he got another chance to lead his own feature film. And what do you know, there’s one coming his way right now.
Paramount Pictures has set Adam Shankman to direct Dinklage in O’Lucky Day, a Bad Santa-esque comedy about a guy who tells people he’s a leprechaun. Get details on the Peter Dinklage leprechaun comedy after the jump. Read More »

Much as an infuriated avian might send its own body crashing into a structure to get to some evil swine, Sony is throwing a very funny voice cast at its Angry Birds movie to win over the skeptics.
Jason Sudeikis has just been announced for the lead part of Red, with Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, and Peter Dinklage all set for co-starring roles. And those are just the major players — there about ten more notable names in smaller roles as well. Get details on the Angry Birds movie cast, and see the first photo, after the jump.

Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Bungie and Activision are teaming for the “living game world” of the next-gen game title Destiny, and now Joseph Kosinski has directed a live-action ad/trailer for the game. While “live-action” might at first seem a bit generous in this context, as so much of the ad is CG, eventually you’ll see stunning environments pulled from real life. And there are definitely real human actors in there, wearing actual costumes — at least one of which looks like it might have been borrowed from Star-Lord’s wardrobe.
You’ll hear the voice of Peter Dinklage as Ghost, the game’s helper AI, and the stuff heard here has been nicely chosen, as it sounds a lot better than the early snippets of his voice work that drew criticism for a flat affect. The improved audio, together with Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song,’ keeps things moving here. Read More »
Those four above have a longer walk than they originally thought. Earlier today we had word of one Sony film hitting theaters earlier than planned, as Fury moved from mid-November up to October 17 2014. Now the video game-influenced action/comedy Pixels, based on the short film from Patrick Jean, has been pushed back from May 15, 2015 to July 24, 2015.

Sony Pictures has opened up shop across from the San Diego Convention Center at the Had Rock Hotel. Inside is the Pixels arcade, a small retro arcade that will be open for the remainder of the 2014 San Diego Comic Con International. The mini arcade will feature retro video game tournaments with next generation video game prizes (Playstation 4, or course). But more importantly, the arcade offers us some insight into the world of Pixels, the high-concept sci-fi action comedy coming from director Chris Columbus. Hit the jump to see some photos and video from the arcade, see the heroes Ghostbusters-like car, learn about a arcade game that we found inside and a strange encounter with Peter Dinklage‘s Billy Mitchell-looking felon character.

After the year he’s had on Game of Thrones, it’s tough to blame Peter Dinklage for wanting to take on some lighter fare in the off season. And it doesn’t get much lighter than Pixels, a Happy Madison movie in which Kevin James plays the President.
Directed by Chris Columbus, Pixels sees classic video game characters descending upon New York City. Dinklage, Adam Sandler, and Josh Gad play the elite gamers recruited by the government to fight back, with Michelle Monaghan‘s military officer helping them out.
The first Pixels image has just been released, and it’s worth a look if only for the sight of Dinklage’s truly terrible mullet. See it after the jump.
