San Diego Comic-Con got a first look at the upcoming limited series Prison Break, picking up after the original four seasons and straight to video movie. Series creator Paul Scheuring got the band back together, after leaving the show in capable hands for seasons three and four. We spoke to the new series’ producers Vaun Wilmott and Michael Horowitz in a roundtable about bringing Prison Break back.
While sequel series like The X-Files and Fuller House revel in nostalgia, Prison Break won’t be interested in that. “I feel like Paul doesn’t care that much about nostalgia,” Horowitz said. “Paul just wants to tell a great story and tell a story that he was excited about and involving our main cast. Yeah, I think there were times where we probably wish we could have had more people back at times, but it was more important just to tell the great story. We also don’t want to be just nostalgic. Today in their Television Critics Association executive session, Fox Television Group Chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman confirmed development on a new 10-episode season of Prison Break.
Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are confirmed to return, and Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring has pitched the new season. However, Walden and Newman are split on how the new series will address the straight to video movie Prison Break: The Final Break. Execs also addressed the upcoming Urban Cowboy series, saying the pilot shoots in September and that it could transform from an event series to an ongoing show. Read More »
Today at Microsoft’s annual E3 press conference there was no word about the Steven Spielberg-produced Halo series that is expected to premiere in 2015. But there was some brief info on the other series based on the Halo games, which counts Ridley Scott as a producer. That one is a smaller-budgeted “digital series” originally said to be similar to Halo: Forward Until Dawn. Now we know the title: Halo Nightfall. Read More »
