Here’s the Swedish trailer for the Latino-themed Paranormal Activity spinoff, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. The film looks a bit like the Paranormal franchise crossed with Chronicle, as a kid looking through the belongings of a recently murdered woman finds himself “marked” and subsequently possessed of inexplicable powers. But that’s only the beginning of his predicament, and things don’t go so well for the guy. Read More »
There are new posters for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, and Monsters: The Dark Continent, but I’m pretty psyched to hear that a sequel to Society is still in development. So that’s the first thing up after the break in this Sequel Bits, with the posters and comments from Tom Hardy about Mad Max and Michael Fassbender about Prometheus 2 after the break. Read More »
There’s no sequel to Paranormal Activity this year, but just as the new year turns there will be The Marked Ones. Directed by Christopher Landon (who co-wrote Paranormal Activity 2-4) this is the “Latino-themed” spin-off we’ve heard about. It has some black magic, some super powers via possession, and some good old fashioned street intimidation. Check out a trailer below. Read More »
Lots of news on the Paranormal Activity front over the past few days, just in time to remind fans there won’t be a new movie this year. First up was the news Almanac writers Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman will write the fifth installment of the franchise, set for release October 14, 2014. Next up, they got a boss. Greg Plotkin, editor and co-producer of the last three installments as well as the upcoming spin-off, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, will helm Paranormal Activity 5.
Speaking of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, which will be out January 3, that film’s director Christopher Landon (who wrote Paranormal Activity 2-4) will leave the franchise for a new Paramount horror film simply called Scouts vs. Zombies. Read More »
Briefly: Paramount and Blumhouse Productions have been very happily cranking out a new Paranormal Activity film each year since the first became a smash hit in 2009. But the fifth film won’t hit this October. It was pushed back not long ago, and we know now that Paranormal Activity 5 will open (as expected, more or less) on October 14, 2014. There are no announced writers or directors for the film at this point.
But there’s another dose of supernatural found-footage horror coming before that October ’14 date. STYD reports that the first spin-off from the series, aimed at the Latino audience and called Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, will be one of the first films out of the gate next year. Release is planned for January 3 2014. Paranormal Activity 2-4 writer Christopher Landon directed the film, and this confirms the expected January release date.
We don’t know what the story of The Marked Ones will be at this point. We understand that it is set in the same general world as the other films, but don’t know if it relates directly to the story established in the first four core films in the series.
