beast of burden trailer

Daniel Radcliffe just went and got himself in over his head in the Beast of Burden trailer. The film (not to be confused with the Rolling Stones song) features Radcliffe as a man pushed to extremes to help save his wife. Lots of expository dialogue follows. Watch the Beast of Burden trailer below.

Gerard Butler interview

Gerard Butler is more often than not the biggest guy in the room. Or at least in his movies. Whether he’s going after the justice system, protecting the president, or delivering Shakespeare, he’s going bigger than everyone else…and he’s usually ripped. In Den of Thieves, playing a bull of an LAPD cop, Big Nick, he looks like a mammoth compared to some of those past roles.

The character’s size isn’t the only reason Butler disappears as Big Nick – it’s also his attitude. Christian Gudegat‘s directorial debut has one of Butler’s meatiest roles to date: a deeply flawed, isolated and dedicated cop. We spoke with the actor about how he wanted to play Big Nick, the transformation he made with the role, and some of his favorite actors.

Below, read our Gerard Butler interview.

Den of Thieves set visit

Heading into the Den of Thieves set visit, I was mostly thinking about Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. While leaving the Den of Thieves set visit, I was still mostly thinking about Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. The artist, entrepreneur, Vitaminwater moneymaker, and actor was a lot more entertaining and honest than (understandably) some actors tend to be speaking with bloggers on sets. Like most of the cast, he was enjoying himself in Atlanta, Georgia, during a day of filming of the upcoming crime thriller, which stars Gerard Butler as a hulking L.A.P.D cop chasing down a crew of robbers.

Den of Thieves Trailer

Bank heist movies are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. Every year there’s a few new action thrillers built around that subject, and the first one out of the gate in 2018 is arriving pretty early.

Den of Thieves sees Gerard Butler as the leader of an elite unit of cops from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department who are desperate to stop a group of bank robbers who have left them out in the wind. With the crew planning to rob the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown LA, apparently the one bank than has never been robbed, this is the one opportunity they have to bust the crew for this job and all the others. Den of Thieves trailer

Gerard Butler, who can currently be seen fighting the weather in Geostorm, has yet another film on the horizon. In Den of Thieves, Butler is an unorthodox cop chasing after a team of robbers. It’s sort of like heat, but instead of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, we get Gerard Butler and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Watch the Den of Thieves trailer below.

13 Hours Red-Band Trailer

The events that occurred in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012 were a tragedy that quickly turned into a hot-button political topic. Even now, years later, the argument over what “really” happened rages on, with people loudly and angrily taking sides depending on whether they get their updates from Fox News or MSNBC. It’s a sticky mess that needs to be handled with nuance and insight. So who better to take it on than Transformers director Michael Bay?

In predictable Michael Bay fashion, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi seems to turn the situation into an excuse for handsome men to act all badass against a backdrop of pretty, expensive explosions. After all, if there’s one thing Americans of all political persuasions can agree on, it’s that we really enjoy movies about stuff blowing up. Watch the 13 Hours red-band trailer after the jump.

Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight

With a title like Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight, you’d think it’d be safe to assume HBO Films’ upcoming release was a sports film. But no, Stephen Frears‘ drama follows Ali’s historic Supreme Court battle to stay out of the Vietnam War.

Ali was drafted in the ’60s but refused to go, citing his religion and declaring himself a conscientious objector. As a consequence, he was convicted of draft evasion and stripped of his title and boxing license. He appealed the conviction all the way to the Supreme Court, which is where Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight picks up.

Christopher Plummer, Frank Langella, and Danny Glover portray some of the Supreme Court justices. Interestingly, Ali himself isn’t played by an actor — he appears only archival footage. Watch the new trailer after the jump.

Winner of the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, Happythankyoumoreplease ( or “Happy Thank You More Please” for people who like spaces in their titles), was scheduled to come out this summer. It didn’t – obviously – but finally, the funny, poignant and contemporary story of how a missing boy changes the lives of a bunch of struggling New Yorkers will be released this March. Written, directed and starring Josh Radnor of How I Met Your Mother, the romantic comedy also stars Malin Akerman, Zoe Kazan, Kate Mara, Pablo Schreiber and Tony Hale. The poster was revealed earlier today and you can check out the brand new trailer, and read some thoughts about the film, after the jump. Read More »

How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor makes his directorial feature debut with happythankyoumoreplease, one of 16 films selected from 1,058 submissions for the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Written by Radnor, the dramedy tells the story of six New Yorkers who “negotiate love, friendship, and gratitude at a time when they’re too old to be precocious and not ready to be adults.”

Radnor worked on the script for several years, writing during down time from the CBS sitcom and shot in New York City during series hiatus. Radnor also co-stars in the film, alongside Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Kate Mara, Zoe Kazan, Tony Hale, Pablo Schreiber, and Michael Algieri. Akerman, pictured above, plaus Annie, a woman with a condition called Alopecia Universalis, which doesn’t allow her to grow hair. I’ve included a few images after the jump, along with he official sundance synopsis.
