the librarians trailer

For the past decade, Noah Wyle has been The Librarian. That’s a character who featured in three made-for-TV movies following an adventurer traveling the world looking for artifacts. He’s very much inspired by Indiana Jones. Now, that character will play a role in a regular TV series that expands the movie’s mythology.

The show is called The Librarians, and it follows a secret society that protects the world from mysterious happenings. Wyle will appear sporadically as his character, but he’s since passed the mantle of Librarian to a new group of characters, including one played by Rebecca Romijn. Dean Devlin (Independence Day, Stargate) is one of the executive producers and will direct a few episodes of the series, which debuts December 7.

As the source is somewhat less than airtight, you should probably take the following with the biggest grain of salt you can get your hands on — but on the off chance there’s some truth to it, this rumor is too wild not to repeat. A new report claims that George Clooney and Noah Wyle are vying for the lead role in the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, which is being developed at Sony based on Walter Isaacson‘s bestselling biography. More details after the jump.

Earlier this month, Peter reported from WonderCon that he was “very impressed” by the clips he’d seen of Falling Skies, praising the show for its “very high budget and cinematic” look. Now that TNT’s released the first five minutes of the Steven Spielberg-produced alien invasion series, we can judge for ourselves — and I’m with Peter. It’s too early to tell if Falling Skies will actually be a quality show, but this first clip, at least, looks good. Watch it after the jump.

The latest one is a trailer/featurette that includes brief clips of stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, and Drew Roy discussing the show. Watch it after the jump.

Earlier today, I was floored by the footage of Frank Darabont’s television adaptation of the Walking Dead. Unfortunately, I wish the same could be said of what I’ve seen of the Steven Spielberg-produced Falling Skies for TNT. The show — created by Robert Rodat (screenwriter for Saving Private Ryan, and The Patriot) — stars TNT-regular Noah Wyle (ER, The Librarian) and sci-fi regular Moon Bloodgood (Journeyman, Terminator Salvation) as everyday people whose lives are overturned when aliens invade and wipe out 80 percent of humanity. Oh yah, and they fried the electrical grid as well. Fuckers.
