Bond 24 Purvis Wade

Bond 24 will bring Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes back into the world of globe-trotting espionage, but the screenwriting credit may not be what we were expecting it to be. While John Logan also made the leap back into Bond after Skyfall, the script turned in may be getting more of a work-over than previously suggested. Rewrites on big movies happen all the time, and weeks ago it was reported that¬†Neil Purvis and Robert Wade, who have worked on many Bond films in the last fifteen years, were doing a “last-minute rewrite” on Logan’s Bond 24 script.¬†

Last year, we got the surprising but not unwelcome news that Nicolas Winding Refn would be revamping Barbarella for the small screen. Now he’s being joined by some other big cinematic names. Making a small film in the US means raising money by whatever means are necessary, but other countries actually support the arts. Crazy idea, right? I’m sure there are issues with how public arts funding is doled out in the UK, but I love the fact that small films from proven talent can get some public money to help them along. The UK Film Council recently released information on what films are receiving grants from the council this year, and there are some interesting details in the list.

Some of the projects — and the ones getting the most funding — are ones we already knew about, like Joe Cornish‘s Attack the Block and Mike Leigh‘s Another Year.
