Mission Impossible 6 Details - Tom Cruise

UPDATE: Director Christopher McQuarrie has clarified this story just a bit:

The Mission: Impossible movies don’t need city-leveling CGI set pieces or characters created entirely through motion capture. They already have the greatest special effect of all time. That special effect is called Tom Cruise. Ageless, fearless, and seemingly built in a laboratory to withstand stunts that would have (sane) actors calling for their doubles, Cruise has upped the ante with each Mission: Impossible movie, finding new and exciting ways to risk his life for the sake of our “Oohs” and “Aahs.” He will one day die on a movie set at the age of 91, looking like he’s 45, with a smile on severed head. He probably tried to surf on a helicopter blade.

Anyway, Mission: Impossible 6 will apparently feature a stunt so extreme that Cruise trained for a year so he could pull it off.

Mission Impossible 6 Details - Tom Cruise

Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the Mission: Impossible film franchise, and while there wasn’t much celebration surrounding the big screen adaptation of the classic film series, soon fans will have something to be excited about with a new movie starting production later this year.

While there will be plenty of action again, this time McQuarrie wanted to dive deeper into the character of Ethan Hunt. Oh, and they’re going to throw Tom Cruise off something tall.

Jeremy Renner Not Returning for Mission Impossible 6

It’s getting to the point that almost every good actor out there has some kind of role in the Marvel cinematic universe. Thankfully, they can’t all be in every single movie in the Marvel franchise, so they get a break for a couple years at a time. But with The Avengers: Infinity War coming up, pretty much the entire roster of Marvel’s surviving characters will be utilized in some capacity, and while that doesn’t appear to be a problem for most of the cast members involved, it could create an issue for one member of The Avengers.

In a recent interview to promote Arrival (a movie that you simply must see as soon as possible), co-star Jeremy Renner revealed that the shooting schedule for The Avengers: Infinity War might keep him from reprising his role as agent William Brandt in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Read More »
