Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg didn’t quite get a chance to destroy Christmas last year thanks to the messy release of their film The Interview. Not that they’re still thinking about it or anything; it’s just one of the first cards that comes up in The Night Before red-band trailer.
This new Christmas comedy comes from director Jonathan Levine (50/50, The Wackness) and features Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as three friends who are spending their last Christmas together before life takes them all on their own separate paths. Their party night turns crazy thanks to the intersection of drugs and (we’re just guessing based on this trailer) their own anxieties about impending life changes. It’s a very funny trailer, with a church scene featuring Rogen and Jillian Bell scoring the biggest comic hit. Watch below. Read More »

As people across the U.S. continue to celebrate the recent Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage, the first Freeheld trailer has come to remind us of the tough battles that brought us here. Based on a true story, the drama stars Julianne Moore and Ellen Page as New Jersey couple Laurel and Stacie. After Laurel, a cop, is diagnosed with cancer, she fights to ensure that her pension goes to Stacie.
At their side are Laurel’s police partner Dane (Michael Shannon) and New York activist Steven (Steve Carell). Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) directed and Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia, Soldier’s Girl) wrote the script. Watch the Freeheld trailer after the jump.

After losing the role of Spider-Man (though we don’t know to who just yet), it appears the bad luck is continuing for Andrew Garfield in the trailer for the Sundance selected indie drama 99 Homes. The film made our Best of Sundance list back in January, and it’s slated to arrive in select theaters this fall.
Now you can see what all the buzz is about in the powerful trailer for the film that also stars Michael Shannon and Laura Dern. Watch the 99 Homes trailer after the jump! Read More »
Netflix and Nintendo are at work potentially developing a TV series based on The Legend of Zelda. The news broke last week and got video game fans salivating. Sure there was a short lived Zelda TV show many years ago, but a Nintendo property hasn’t been adapted into a big budget, live-action…well…anything since the early Nineties. And The Legend of Zelda has long been at the top of fan’s wish lists for a new show of movie.
But what is the show going to be? All we know at the moment is Nintendo and Netflix want a family friendly show with the aesthetic of Game of Thrones. Okay, but how old will Link be? Zelda? Which will be the main character? Is Ganon the bad guy? What story will they use? At this point, without a script or showrunner, all options are likely on the table.
Since most of The Legend of Zelda games are about younger characters, that how we went with our casting wishlist. We tried to pick actors who, for the most part, aren’t super famous but are age appropriate. Actors both in the box and way outside it. The resulting list features lots of people who you may or may not have heard of, but you wouldn’t be surprised to hear were cast on a Netflix show. That’s not to say we didn’t stretch here or there.
So below, we’ve got our own Legend of Zelda Netflix casting wishlist for Link, Zelda, Ganon and then a writer/showrunner/director type. Check it out. Read More »

What’s that saying about truth being stranger than fiction? Liza Johnson‘s new comedy Elvis & Nixon documents the real-life meeting between the two famous figures, played by Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey.
The event was even weirder than the image above makes it look — Elvis wanted Nixon to make him an undercover federal narcotics agent, and Nixon actually gave him a badge. Get your first look at Elvis & Nixon after the jump. Read More »
Elvis Presley has been portrayed by many actors over the decades since his death in 1977. That doesn’t make the idea of seeing Michael Shannon play the singer any less head-turningly odd. Pair him with Kevin Spacey as Richard M. Nixon and you might have something really… weird. The two actors have been cast in Elvis & Nixon, which is inspired by the unlikely photo op that resulted in the photo above, taken in 1977. Read More »
“From writer/director Jake Paltrow comes a futuristic western, told in three chapters, which inventively layers Greek tragedy over an ethereal narrative that’s steeped deeply in the values of the American West.” I’m in. Did I mention that the film has a great cast? Michael Shannon, Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult and Kodi Smit-McPhee lead this story. Watch the Young Ones trailer embedded after the jump.
