Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now looks pretty clear. The Iron Man, Thor and Captain America sequels will lead directly into Avengers: Age of Ultron, while Guardians of the Galaxy will feature Thanos and look ahead to Phase Three.
One offshoot that’s a little less clear is on television. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place in the same universe as the films. We know this because the plot of the show features Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) returning from the dead to lead members of S.H.I.E.L.D. in investigating other superheroes. Coulson was a major part of Phase One and The Avengers but, according to Joss Whedon, that probably won’t be the case this time around. Read his quote below. Read More »

Briefly: We’ve known for some time now that ABC’s awkwardly titled yet highly anticipated Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would air on Tuesdays this fall. Heck, ABC’s actually building the entire evening around that one promising new show, rather than anchoring the night with a returning favorite. Now, happily, we can get a little more specific.
The network has just announced that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will premiere September 24 at 8 PM. The comic book drama kicks off an exciting evening that includes three other freshman debuts: The Goldbergs at 9, Trophy Wife at 9:30, and Lucky 7 at 10. Of all the questions hovering over Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., perhaps the biggest is just what Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is doing in it. Even the spoiler-y explanation we got earlier a few months back only raised more questions.
Happily, co-creator Jed Whedon assures fans they’ll get an answer — just not right away. Fans will be able to pick up hints from the first episode, but it’ll take some time for the whole truth to be revealed. Hit the jump to read his comments on Coulson and more. (Be advised spoilers for The Avengers follow from here on out.)

Joss Whedon is creating some real problems for his heroes in The Avengers 2. The writer/director recently said, yes, Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch will be in the film, but they won’t be there to help the team. “I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier,” the director said.
He also said, despite rumors to the contrary, Iron Man will be back for the 2015 sequel and that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will “throw something in that foreshadows [or] echoes” events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lots of Joss quotes today. Read them all below. Read More »
Two pretty big rumors regarding The Avengers 2 are whipping around the Web today, so we figured they were worth a look. The first one seems most plausible. It concerns the possible inclusion of the Black Panther in the sequel and the hint comes from the chairman of South Africa’s Cape Town Film Studios. He said Marvel has been in contact about filming the Joss Whedon sequel there.
The second rumor is that Hawkeye could be recast. Jeremy Renner played the character in Thor as well as The Avengers, but citing a lack of activity in Phase Two and his negative comments about his role in The Avengers, one source believes the character could become the next War Machine or Hulk.
