Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino have both been acting steadily since the 1960s, starring in some of the most iconic films of all time and winning an Oscar each along the way. But somehow, they’ve never actually shared the screen until Misconduct.
Directed by Shintaro Shimosawa (Fox’s The Following), the thriller stars the two titans as corporate rivals. Hopkins is a corrupt pharmaceutical executive, while Pacino is a senior partner at a high-profile firm. Josh Duhamel is the lawyer who gets caught in the middle, and finds himself trapped in a web of lies and intrigue. Watch the first Misconduct trailer after the jump. Read More »
Around the time that The Final Girls hit limited theaters and VOD, we showed off some pages from the production diary that helped director Todd Strauss-Schulson plan his stunning, meta horror comedy. And now that the film is hitting Blu-ray and DVD today, we have another cool behind the scenes feature to show you.
In The Final Girls, there’s a key sequence that was pulled off in a single impressive shot. (If you’ve seen it, it’s the part when the camp counselors and kids trapped in Camp Bloodbath try to trap the killer.) I was sure that visual effects were used to combine several different shots into one, but now we can show you on-set footage of The Final Girls single shot being completed by a programmed camera rig that made it possible. And if you haven’t seen the movie, don’t worry, because we have the finished clip from the movie too. Watch! Read More »
Last week we brought you an exclusive batch of posters from The Final Girls, the absolutely fantastic horror comedy with a whole lot of heart from director Todd Strauss-Schulson. If you haven’t seen it yet, I can’t overstate how much you need to stop what you’re doing and go see this movie on VOD right now.
Otherwise, for anyone out there who has seen the movie and/or may be an aspiring filmmaker, the director sent over to us what is basically his making of The Final Girls — but from before the film was even shot. It’s a handwritten guide to shooting the movie, full of notes and quickly drawn shot diagrams that plan the entire film. It just goes to show you how carefully planned every single element of the movie is before cameras roll. See the making of The Final Girls after the jump. Read More »
This weekend brings a wonderful meshing of horror and comedy with some real heart in the form of The Final Girls. The meta flick takes Taissa Farmiga and throws her into the world of the horror movie that her mother (Malin Akerman) made famous, making for a reunion that is simultaneously thrilling, touching and hilarious. It’s like Last Action Hero, but way better.
And to help get the word out about this seriously incredible movie that will be in limited theaters and available on VOD starting Friday, October 9th, we’ve got an exclusive batch of character posters designed by Alex Pardee, the brilliant artist who has delivered awesome work for The World’s End and Attack the Block previously.
Plus, if you need anymore convincing (other than the awesome trailer), director Todd Strauss-Schulson checked in with us to make sure you know that this movie is all about. And if that’s not enough, we had a great interview with him back in August that you should definitely take the time to read. Otherwise, check out The Final Girls posters below! Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
I went into The Final Girls at SXSW this year having no idea what to expect from the horror/comedy Todd Strauss-Schulson. What I saw was a very funny comedy that has a good take on the tropes of slasher films, but also a movie that has a really effective core about dealing with difficult family trauma. The cast is led by Taissa Farmiga, Malin Akerman, and Nina Dobrev, with Alexander Ludwig, Alia Shawkat, Thomas Middleditch, and Adam Devine in major roles. Check out The Final Girls trailer here. True Detective Season 2 already has a great male cast in place, with Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Vince Vaughn all signed on for major roles. But it’s had a tougher time trying to pin down the female lead.
Elisabeth Moss and Rachel McAdams have both been named as possibilities in recent weeks, but neither’s clinched the role quite yet. Now seven more actresses are entering the mix, including Rosario Dawson and Jessica Biel. Hit the jump for the latest on the True Detective Season 2 female lead casting.

Okay, so as I said yesterday, we usually try to focus on entertainment news and avoid celebrity stories, but the Star Wars Episode 7 cast and crew taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge felt entertainment news-worthy enough to feature on the site. I honestly thought that was the last of those videos we’d feature on /Film but now the comic book superheroes are taking the challenge in full costume: Henry Cavill and Amy Adams both took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on the set of Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in their film costumes. I’m going to call it the Superman Ice Bucket Challenge.
Thats right, Cavill is wearing his complete Man of Steel Superman suit and Adams is dressed as reporter Lois Lane. We absolutely needed to share this video in case you missed it. And one Ice Bucket Challenge is nothing for Superman, so they give our favorite alien superhero something extra. Watch the Superman ice bucket challenge video embedded after the jump now.

This trailer for CBGB, which dramatizes the history of the NYC club that was the birthplace of new wave and punk in America, makes a lot of noise about the fact that the club’s bathroom (above) was famously gross. In fact, after the club closed, parts of that bathroom and other elements of the joint were actually disassembled and worked into the sets used for the movie.
And yet the footage itself looks like a squeaky clean recreation of the house where bands like Blondie, the Talking Heads and the Ramones built their careers.
Kids deserve to know about the roots of punk rock in the US, and there’s nothing really wrong with a bunch of people playing dress-up as the biggest figures of the NYC new wave and punk scene. But it’s pretty funny. Watch the footage below and you’ll see Alan Rickman as Hilly Kristal, who opened the iconic club in ’73, Donal Logue as his compatriot, and Malin Akerman, Rupert Grint, Ashley Greene, Johnny Galecki, Ryan Hurst, Justin Bartha and Bradley Whitford as members of Talking Heads, Blondie, The Ramones, Dead Boys, The Police, Iggy Pop and Patti Smith Group.
