What does it take for a snail to become fast enough to compete in the Indy 500? According to this new trailer for DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo, a terrible car accident and a nitrous oxide wash ought to do the trick.
Ryan Reynolds voices the lead, an ordinary garden snail with not-so-ordinary dreams. While the first trailer focused mostly on his burning desire to race — an apparent impossibility considering it takes him 17 minutes to travel one yard — the second offers a better look at how he might actually achieve that goal, and the friends who’ll be there to help him. Watch the new trailer after the jump.

If the two Expendables movies were Arnold Schwarzenegger dipping his toe back into the acting pool, Kim Jee-woon‘s The Last Stand is him taking a cannonball dive back in. The former governor of California soaks in the spotlight as Ray Owens, a small-town sheriff who becomes the last guy standing between a ruthless cartel leader (Eduardo Noriega) and the Mexican border.
This being Arnold, of course that involves heavy-duty weaponry and some cheesy one-liners. The latest (and probably last) trailer earns a red-band rating for some gleeful violence and some naughty words. Watch it after the jump.

Scott Sanders, the man who with Michael Jai White crafted the often hilarious blaxploitation spoof/homage Black Dynamite, is turning to the world of Mexican wrestling with his next film, Aztec Warrior. The movie begins shooting today, with Luis Guzman as a luchador who faces off against his rival El Diablo, played by Eugenio Derbez. Terry Crews, Nadine Velazquez, and Lupe Ontiveros are in the film, too.
And, evidently, there are some familiar-looking robots in the movie as well. A piece of concept art surfaced recently showing the Aztec Warrior squaring off against a machine that looks a lot like the ED-209 from RoboCop. Read More »
Dreamworks Animation announced Turbo a while ago; the animated film features Ryan Reynolds as the voice of a garden snail who dreams of being a racing champion.
Today the rest of the major voice cast has been announced, and it features some excellent names. Paul Giamatti, Luis Guzman, Maya Rudolph and more are part of the lineup. And Robert Siegel (The Wrestler, Big Fan) has been announced as a co-writer, which is also a welcome detail. Read More »

With all the fuss about this spring’s The Hunger Games, I’d almost forgotten all about Josh Hutcherson‘s other blockbuster franchise, which began in 2008 with Journey to the Center of the Earth. But Hutcherson hasn’t, of course, and he’ll be reprising his role next month in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
Hutcherson plays lead Sean Anderson, who teams up with his stepfather (Dwayne Johnson) to explore the fantastical, heavily CGI-ed wonderland of the title. Also along for the ride are a wacky helicopter pilot (Luis Guzman) and his daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), as well as Sean’s adventurous grandfather (Michael Caine). Watch the new trailer after the jump.
Celebrity Twitter accounts make some first-look reveals pretty easy. I’m surprised it has taken this long for Arnold Schwarzenegger to tweet out a cast photo from his new action movie The Last Stand. And I’ll say this: in this pic at least, he looks the part of an aged lawman who has retreated to a sheriff post in a small down. That’s Jamie Alexander with Arnie in the header pic; see the full image below for a glimpse of Luis Guzman and Johnny Knoxville as well. Read More »
Today Kim Jee-woon (The Good, the Bad, the Weird and I Saw the Devil) begins shooting his English language debut, The Last Stand. The film is notable for being the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to a starring role. Arnie plays a former LAPD officer now working as a small-town sheriff, who has to deal with a drug kingpin who is fleeing to Mexico and will pass right through his town.
The obligatory ‘start of production’ press release is below, complete with the same plot synopsis we’ve had for a while. Along with that is the announcement of a few actors who are part of the film, including Forest Whitaker, Johnny Knoxville, and one of my personal faves, Harry Dean Stanton. Read More »
Cool Posts From Around the Web:
Warner Bros has released a second movie trailer for the remake of Arthur. Russell Brand plays an “irresponsible charmer” named Arthur Bachwho will lose his limitless fortune if he doesn’t accept an arranged marriage. I’m still not sold on two things: 1. The need for this remake and 2. that this movie is funny enough to warrant a $10-$15 movie ticket. The only reason I’m curious to see the film is the involvement of Luis Guzman and the Batman/Robin bit that is teased in the advertising. Watch the trailer embedded after the jump.
