For the first time since 2001, we have a new Peter Bogdanovich film arriving this year. She’s Funny That Way (formerly titled Squirrels to the Nuts, a reference to Ernst Lubitsch’s Cluny Brown) stars Owen Wilson as Arnold, a theater director who gets involved with an escort and aspiring actress (Imogen Poots) whose therapist (Jennifer Aniston) is dating his playwright (Will Forte) — who, in turn, begins to fall for the escort.
Meanwhile, Arnold tries to duck the wrath of his wife (Kathryn Hahn), who’s also his star, along with her ex (Rhys Ifans). Lucy Punch is somehow involved as well. It’s a lot to keep track of, so see if you can keep up with the She’s Funny That Way trailer after the jump. Read More »
Into the Woods, directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago) is a musical based on the stage work from Stephen Sondheim, but you wouldn’t have known that from the film’s first trailer. This featurette, however, gives us not only interviews with the cast and crew, discussing the creation of the film, but also a lot more footage. And singing! In this you can hear the cast sing for the first time. There are snippets of ‘I Wish,’ featuring Anna Kendrick, James Corden, Emily Blunt, and Meryl Streep, and you’ll hear Streep knocking out ‘Stay With Me’ as well. Read More »

Malin Akerman has signed on to star with Tyler Labine, Lucy Punch, and Daniel Petronijevic in Cottage Country, an dark indie comedy by Canadian director Peter Wellington. Written by Jeremy Boxen (Endgame), the story follows Todd (Labine) as he plans to propose to Cammie (Akerman) at his family cottage. However, Todd’s plans are ruined by the arrival of his slacker brother (Petronijevic) and the brother’s free-spirited girlfriend (Punch).
The film will be Wellington’s first feature since 2003’s Luck. Wellington has been working primarily in television over the last several years, on shows including Rookie Blue and Slings and Arrows. The film is currently shooting in Ontario through late October for a 2012 release. [The Hollywood Reporter]
After the jump, Pacific Rim gets another star and John Hurt joins a project called Labyrinth that is totally unrelated to Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. Bet you got worried there for a second that it would be a remake.

I’m not sure who decreed that 2011 be the year of the R-rated-comedy-starring-Jason-Sudeikis, but here we are with a trailer for the third such project this year. A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy stars the SNL vet as Eric, a frat boy-ish 30something who lives to throw over-the-top parties at his dad’s Hamptons home. When Eric’s dad decides to sell the house, Eric decides he has to do something truly special for his last big blowout. (You can probably guess from the title what theme he eventually settles on.)
Leslie Bibb, Lake Bell, Michelle Borth, Nick Kroll, Tyler Labine, Angela Sarafyan, Lindsay Sloane, Martin Starr, Lucy Punch, and Will Forte co-star. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Columbia Pictures have released a green band movie trailer for Bad Teacher. You might recall that a red band trailer was released a couple weeks back.
Jake Kasdan‘s sex comedy Bad Teacher, is about the competition between a teacher ‘who just doesn’t give an F’ (played by Cameron Diaz) and her “overly energetic colleague” played by Lucy Punch, over the new guy in school: Justin Timberlake. Jason Segel is also in the mix as a gym teacher who has the hots for Diaz’s character. The comedy is written by the writing duo of Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg , who were responsible for the horrible Year One, and the possibly upcoming Ghostbusters III (oh yah, and The Office too).

The European Film Market is getting underway tomorrow in Berlin, and a big pre-emptive buy has been made by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, which partnered with Samuel Goldwyn Films to grab US rights for a Jason Sudeikis comedy called A Good Old Fashioned Orgy. Read More »
The Weinstein Co has released an early international teaser trailer for A Little Bit of Heaven, a romantic dramedy from director Nicole Kassell (The Woodsman, The Closer, Cold Case). The film stars Kate Hudson as “a guarded woman who finds out she’s dying of cancer, but when she meets her match, the threat of falling in love is scarier than death.” The film co-stars Gael García Bernal, Romany Malco, Kathy Bates, Whoopi Goldberg, Lucy Punch, Rosemarie DeWitt, Steven Weber, and Johann Urb. Looks too generic and by the numbers for me, and the musical selections used in the trailer are beyond horrible. Watch the trailer embedded after the jump.
