We saw the first official image from the film, complete with a flying eyeball, earlier this week, and now we’ve got the first trailer. Check out the red-band clip, which is full of swirling splatters of blood, below. Read More »

Tony Kaye got a reputation for being hard-headed during the production of American History X, and though he released the incendiary abortion documentary Lake of Fire in 2006, the years since American History X haven’t been easy for the director when it comes to narrative films. His movie Black Water Transit has been on the shelf for years now, and Kaye seemed like he might be a permanent resident of director jail.

But his new film Detachment is finally getting a release. The film stars Adrien Brody as a substitute teacher who may have more problems than his studens do. The supporting cast is big: Marcia Gay Harden, Christina Hendricks, William Petersen, Bryan Cranston, Tim Blake Nelson, Lucy Liu, Blythe Danner, and James Caan, and Brody’s work seems like it might even be as good as the bold pullquotes that decorate the new trailer would suggest. Check out the trailer below and see for yourself. Read More »

What a strange cast! Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, the sequel to the 2008 DreamWorks animated adventure film, has just added three actors: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Michelle Yeoh, and Victor Garber. The idea of Yeoh and Van Damme being in the film is entertaining, but when it will be only as voice actors? Perhaps slightly less so. OK, fine: Van Damme could be hilarious. Read More »

Quentin Tarantino

Update #2: Our friends at The Quentin Tarantino Archives believe that the movie is being produced by A Band Apart, which has somehow been confused as a “Quentin Tarantino production”.

Update: Our friends at Production Weekly have provided us with more information about this project:

Michael Madsen & Bret Davidson were attached to direct together  last year, Davidson wrote the script. Max, a retired war hero, sets to enjoy a weekend at his cabin. While riding his motorcycle on the way up he stops to give a helpful hand to a beautiful woman, Rita, whose car has broken down on the side of the road. He helps her to the nearest repair shop without knowing Rita’s current involvement with the most powerful influence in Las Vegas. Unbeknownst to him Max is soon to enter into the biggest battle for his life.

Celebrity gossip columnist Liz Smith is reporting a rumor that Sharon Stone is going to star in a movie for Quentin Tarantino titled Weekend. Supposedly the movie co-stars Jessica Biel, Lucy Liu, Dennis Hopper and Michael Madsen and it will be filmed in Serbia

The Year of Getting to Know Us Movie Trailer

The Year of Getting to Know Us Movie Trailer

Patrick Sisam’s The Year of Getting to Know Us premieres at Sundance, but an early trailer (with a different title – Rocket) has popped up online.

Jimmy Falon stars in what Sundance describes as a “darkly comic exploration of the classic dysfunctional-family dynamic” and “a quirky exploration of how the people in our lives make us who we are.” Christopher Rocket escaped his sheltered life as the only child of a golf-obsessed father and eccentric mother in Florida to become a commitment-phobic successful freelance writer in New York. The story intercuts between Rocket’s “less-than-normal ’70s childhood and present-day adulthood” as Christopher returns home to reconnect with his estranged comatose father. Lucy Liu, Sharon Stone, Tom Arnold, and Illeana Douglas co-star.

The premise sounds strong, and Falon has shown hints of a promising dramatic turn in the past (Almost Famous), although this trailer is trying to market the film as a mainstream feel good movie, which it clearly isnt. Watch the trailer after the jump.
