Just over a week ago we saw the first real batch of photos from Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel, Prometheus. I’m anxiously awaiting the first real trailer for the film, having seen the Comic Con footage and a glimpse of the bad trailer bootleg that also surfaced last week. (It’s not worth watching, so don’t bother to seek out the bootleg if you haven’t already seen it — seriously, just wait for the real thing.) I don’t know if this film is going to be any good, but I think it is going to be a joy to look at, if nothing else.
To tide us over until the trailer hits, here are the same images that were released not long ago, but in very nice high-res quality. Now you can check out all the little details. From these few images the ‘Alien DNA’ that Ridley Scott mentioned when announcing the movie is so very apparent. And, as I’m sure others have remarked, doesn’t that giant head look more than a bit like original Alien conceptual artist and effects designer H.R. Giger? Alien DNA, indeed.

Here’s the warning up front: if you prefer to learn some of the character and story points of Ridley Scott‘s sorta-Alien prequel Prometheus only through the eventual trailer and film release, beware of what follows. There aren’t big super-serious spoilers below, but there might be a tidbit or two you don’t want to know yet.
Damon Lindelof, brought on to the project by Ridley Scott and who ended up rewriting the Alien prequel script that Jon Spaihts had penned, is well versed in keeping secrets. But in a recent chat he gives up a few details about Prometheus that add to the recently-released synopsis and might answer a few questions you’ve had about the movie. Read More »

Details about Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus have been kept under such tight wraps that after years of reporting on the project, we still don’t have a whole lot of specifics on what it’s actually about. Even the official synopsis posted by Fox a few months back gave away next to nothing in terms of plot; it confirmed only that the film would be a “science fiction epic” about a group of characters taking some kind of journey to an unspecified world.
So we’re very intrigued to see that a new synopsis has been unveiled, which gives away just a little bit more about the storyline and may confirm an earlier rumor. Read more after the jump.

The last time we checked in on casting for The Bourne Legacy, it seemed that basically every male actor under a certain age was being considered for the lead. Now it looks like casting is narrowing down a bit as the film moves forward. We can’t say for sure which names have been eliminated, but we do know which actors are scheduled for screen tests at the moment: Joel Edgerton, Dominic Cooper, Luke Evans and Garrett Hedlund (who, along with Alex Pettyfer, seems to be up for every major role in Hollywood these days). A few other names are still in the running as well. Read more after the jump.

Another relative unknown with a familiar face has been cast in Ridley Scott‘s maybe Alien-spin-off Prometheus. Logan Marshall-Green, recently seen in Devil but who also started in Brooklyn’s Finest and on The OC, has been cast as Holloway, a crew member on the ship and love interest for Noomi Rapace, who plays the main character Elizabeth Shaw. Marshall-Green now joins a cast that includes Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Rafe Spall among others. Read more after the break. Read More »
