You might have seen the trailers for Paul W.S. Anderson‘s version of The Three Musketeers, naturally shot in 3D, and been left wondering if the movie is really for you. We’ve already seen some images and a teaser for Paul W.S. Anderson‘s 3-D “reboot” of The Three Musketeers. Now, a just-released full-length trailer is offering the best look yet at Anderson’s take on 17th century France — and apparently, his version involves flying war blimps. Because why not, I guess.
Loosely based on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers follows the iconic trio (Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson) and their young new teammate D’Artagnan (Logan Lerman) as they fight to save their continent from a powerfully malevolent trio of baddies: Cardinal Richlieu (Christoph Waltz), the Duke of Buckingham (Orlando Bloom with evil facial hair and evil-er eyeliner) and the infamous assassin Milady de Winter (Milla Jovovich). Based on the first of several books by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, wasn’t exactly a runaway hit. But it also wasn’t a great failure. And in the Great Void that will soon be left in the film landscape when the Harry Potter series ends next month, a new teen-centric series will have a chance to step up and take dominance. Can that be Percy Jackson?
We don’t know if the series will have staying power enough to adapt all five books in the first Percy Jackson novel series, much less the emerging sequel series, the second book of which will be published this year. But Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood) were hired to write a sequel earlier this year, and now Thor Freudenthal (Hotel For Dogs, Diary of a Wimpy Kid) has been hired to direct, taking over where Chris Columbus left off with the first film. There was a moment where it looked like Emma Watson might not do much acting at all after the Harry Potter series ended, but she quickly shot a small part in My Week With Marilyn (now in post-production) and then took a role in the film adaptation of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, opposite Logan Lerman. That film is shooting now, and the young Mr. Lerman has sent out a few sneaky first looks at the film via Twitter. Briefly: You’re probably going to be hearing a lot more about Logan Lerman in the next couple years. He was reportedly in the running for Spider-Man after starring in Percy Jackson & the Olympian: The Lightning Thief. He’s D’Artangan in The Three Musketeers (trailer here), and he’ll be the lead in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, opposite Emma Watson. Now he’s booked a new role as The Only Living Boy In New York. It has taken Stephen Chbosky some time to really get a film adaptation rolling of his book The Perks of Being a Wallflower. We first talked about it in May 2010, when he had Logan Lerman and Emma Watson in talks to appear. In February of this year he still had those two set. Kind of a big thing, as the film is one of the very few post-Harry Potter projects to which Emma Watson is committed. Waiting for her schedule to clear up as Harry Potter winds down is a small thing to deal with, that being the case.
Now the film is finally getting ready to shoot, and Mae Whitman (her?) is going to play a role, too. Read More »

Starring Matthew Macfadyen, Logan Lerman, Ray Stevenson and Luke Evans along with Christoph Waltz, Milla Jovovich, Mads Mikkelsen, Til Schweiger, Juno Temple and Orlando Bloom, a teaser trailer has just been released and you can check it out after the jump.
Let’s imagine for a moment that all of Hollywood exists in a universe written by Stephen King. It’s an awkward metaphor, I know, but we only need it for a minute. Because in one corner of Hollywood there is a veritable Pet Sematary full of would-be youth lit franchise openers — films intended as the first chapter in series that were never meant to be. City of Ember, The Golden Compass and Lemony Snicket come to mind; there are many more. Percy Jackson looked ready to be buried back there, but now it seems that ol’ Percy could be this metaphor’s Gage Creed, rising with glowing red evil eyes to menace the hapless inhabitants of a Maine town all over again.
OK, let’s ditch the terrible metaphor and just cut to it: while it looked as if Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief might not kickstart a series when released last year, there is word that Fox 2000 is now actively developing a film based on The Sea of Monsters, the second novel in Rick Riordan‘s series of books about young Olympians.
