‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ Trailer

The first adaptation of one of Cassandra Clare‘s books in The Mortal Instuments cycle is going to hit screens late next summer, and the first trailer is being released just in time for the last Twilight audience to see it.

The film stars Lily Collins as Clary Fray, who learns that she is in fact a descendant of half-Angel warriors who protect humanity from darkness. She’s drawn towards one such warrior, Jace Wayland (Jamie Cambell Bower) with help from Hodge Starkweather (Jared Harris) after her mother (Lena Headey) disappears.

I. Marlene King (Pretty Little Liars) and Jessica Postigo (Tarzan 3D) scripted, and Harald Zwart (Agent Cody Banks, The Karate Kid) ended up directing. Check out the footage below. Read More »

Believe it or not, there’s just 34 days left to go until the second season premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones. And as that date approaches, the teasers and trailers have been getting ever so slightly more revealing. The latest ditches the dramatic narration of the last two, so we get more dialogue this time around — and, consequently, a better idea of the struggles the characters will be facing in the upcoming season. Watch the video after the jump. (Spoilers for Season One follow, obviously.)

Dredd, the new Judge Dredd film from director Pete Travis and writer/producer Alex Garland, is still something of a mystery. We’ve seen a few photos from the movie, but no footage as of yet. Producers and the US distributor Lionsgate are keeping a tight rein on things until we get a bit closer to the film’s September 21 release date.

Today we’ve got four new photos, however. One might be the best look yet at Karl Urban as Judge Dredd, the cop/judge/executioner who patrols a beat in the ultra-violent Mega-City One. Another shows his associate Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) either delivering a point-blank headshot, or trying to pin down a perp as someone else delivers a killing shot. So this film will definitely be more hardcore than the 1995 Judge Dredd? It would seem so. Read More »

Though I was excited by the earlier teaser for Season 2 of HBO’s Game of Thrones, at the risk of sounding like a swooning fangirl, I have to say that even that pales in comparison to this new trailer. This time around, it’s Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) who takes over narrating duties, explaining exactly who everyone is and what they’re doing — without actually revealing anything at all, of course. Tricky eunuch bastard. Naturally, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Peter Dinklage gets some good face time as well. Watch the video after the jump. (Warning: Spoilers for Season 1 follow.)

Now this is more like it. The first teaser we got for Season 2 of HBO’s Game of Thrones revealed absolutely nothing about the upcoming season, and though we’ve gotten some better looks since then — thanks to some behind-the-scenes production videos and a handful of set photos — it’s great to finally have a proper teaser with dramatic shots of the characters and landscapes to go with the requisite ominous voiceover.

Given that Season 2 will be based on A Clash of Kings, Book 2 of George R.R. Martin‘s A Song of Ice and Fire series, it seems entirely appropriate that the narration in this teaser comes from one of the men determined to win the Iron Throne for himself: the brittle, humorless Stannis Baratheon, played by Stephen Dillane. Watch the trailer after the jump. (Warning: Major spoilers for Season 1/Book 1 ahead.)

Helmets and Scowling. Could be a new detective show, or a sludgy metal band from Ohio. In this case, those two words are simply the first things that come to mind when looking at new photos from Dredd, which is the second and hopefully superior adaptation of the long-running Judge Dredd comic book series. Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, and Lena Headey star under the direction of Pete Travis. This batch of pics shows us a bit more than we’ve previously seen of the dour and harsh world in which Dredd and his burg Mega-City One exist. Check them out after the break, and see if they make you crack a smile. Read More »
