snoke apprentices

Update: A very interesting line from another Star Wars book has added another twist to this story. We’ve added the details to the post below.

Another twist has been thrown into the Star Wars canon, but not by Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s doing. The latest Star Wars film has made a huge impact on the galaxy far, far away that will echo in the movies to come, but ironically, one of the biggest bombshells was just revealed outside of the film itself.

Star Wars Insider Magazine’s special souvenir Star Wars: The Last Jedi issue revealed that Kylo Ren is not the only one of his kind. The official Lucasfilm publication revealed that Supreme Leader Snoke has trained “at least one other apprentice” apart from Kylo. What does the possibility of another Snoke apprentice mean for Star Wars Episode 9? Let’s theorize.

Warning: Major spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi follow.

Kylo Ren ship

Adam Driver‘s petulant Star Wars villain Kylo Ren spent a good portion of The Force Awakens pacing around on a Star Destroyer or traveling to planet surfaces in his shuttle, but Darth Vader’s grandson is getting a sleek new ride in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and you can see the first photos of it below.

Plus, writer/director Rian Johnson compares his movie’s tone to other films in the Star Wars saga, and it turns out this movie may be less indebted to The Empire Strikes Back than many might have thought.

The Force Awakens audio commentary

If you’re a fan of J.J. Abrams, then maybe you’ve checked out some of the filmmaker’s audio commentaries. The Force Awakens Darth Vader theory

We’re just under three months away from the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and just last week we actually got confirmation that we’ll be able to see the movie a little earlier than December 18th with showings beginning at 7pm at some theaters on December 17th (as expected). And thankfully, we’re still in the dark about a great many things regarding the story, characters and much more about the Star Wars sequel.

One of the most intriguing elements of The Force Awakens is the new villain Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver. Director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that he’s not a Sith, but he’s working with The First Order. Other than that, his motivations as the villain in the movie aren’t very clear. But a new proposal from our old pal Germain Lussier puts forth an interesting The Force Awakens Darth Vader theory that could explain what Kylo Ren might be planning.

After the jump, beware of some speculative but potentially huge spoilers! Read More »
