Owen Wilson is often thought of in light of his broad comedies, but he’s not stuck doing silly stuff. There’s his long association with Wes Anderson, a project currently in the works with James L. Brooks, and now Wilson has signed on to be in Woody Allen‘s next movie. We don’t yet know what the film is called or whether it is a drama, a comedy or something in between. We know that Carla Bruni may have a role, and not much else.
Meanwhile, Allen’s next movie is You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, which stars Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, Gemma Jones, Freida Pinto and Lucy Punch and opens in September. [THR]

Though the territory was already covered to some extent in Almost Famous, Zooey Deschanel will star in a half-hour dramedy pilot for HBO based on I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie, the memoir by famous band-aide Pamela Des Barres.
Famous for sleeping her way through a succession of rock and screen stars in the late ’60s and early ’70s, Des Barres chronicles her exploits and the frequent depression that followed when her interludes with famous dudes didn’t turn into anything meaningful. Almost Famous fictionalized the story, and it sounds like this will be based in reality. Which means, if the series is picked up, we could potentially enjoy a parade of ‘stars of the week’ playing famous rockers and actors. Which would be amusing, if nothing else. [DHD]

Most men dream of Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson. So a movie starring both women together on the screen is something that most men should be excited about, right? The bad news is that it is a romantic period drama (a genre which is usually beloved by women and attested by men).
The Other Boleyn Girl, based on the Philippa Gregory novel which follows the story of two beautiful sisters, Anne (Portman) and Mary (Johansson) Boleyn, who driven by their family’s blind ambition, compete for the love of the King Henry VIII (Eric Bana). Kristin Scott Thomas and Across the Universe star Jim Sturgess also star. Check out the trailer after the jump.
