Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas turned to Kickstarter this past spring, nearly six years after the last episode had aired on The CW to ask fans for their support in making the long-promised movie happen. The so-called “Marshmallows” responded enthusiastically, crushing the $2 million goal in less than twelve hours. Now they’re finally about to be rewarded for their fervor.
Thomas announced today that Warner Bros. will release the movie, officially titled Veronica Mars, on March 14, 2014. Hit the jump for more on their distribution plans, plus a clip of Madison and Veronica trading barbs.

It’s been a little over six months since the Veronica Mars movie was dramatically funded via Kickstarter, and the film has already completed its primary shoot. We’ve seen a bit of footage, and now there’s a new behind the scenes featurette that shows off some footage and fills viewers in on some of the film’s character backstory. In short, this is all about the love triangle between Veronica (Kristen Bell), Logan (Jason Dohring), and Piz (Chris Lowell). Oh, and there’s the fact that one of them is in trouble, which is what kicks off the plot. Read More »

Like next year’s Veronica Mars sequel, The Lifeguard features Kristen Bell returning to her hometown and reconnecting with old pals. Unlike Veronica Mars, though, The Lifeguard‘s Leigh London is in the midst of a personal crisis that sends her regressing into adolescent behavior. That includes moving back in with her parents, resuming her high school job as a lifeguard, drinking and smoking pot like a rebellious teen, and even striking up a flirtation with an actual teen (David Lambert).
At first, Leigh’s two best friends, closeted Todd (Martin Starr) and school vice principal Mel (Mamie Gummer) are happy to tag along for the ride, but as Leigh falls into deeper trouble they find themselves dragged down with her. The first trailer for the Sundance dramedy has just hit the web, and you can watch it after the jump.

2013 is turning out to be a pretty good year for people who were glued to their TV sets in the mid-aughts. First Arrested Development made its highly anticipated return on Netflix with a 15-episode fourth season, and now the long-promised Veronica Mars movie sequel has finally started shooting.

Frozen started off as a pretty straight-up adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s story The Snow Queen. But, as we detailed earlier today, it mutated to become something rather different. Now it is a story of “two sisters torn apart by a big family secret,” with Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel) as the elder sibling, who cursed her kingdom to be permanently on ice, and Anna (Kristen Bell) as the younger, who tries to find Elsa after she flees the kingdom.
Based on some of the concept art we’ve seen, I expected one thing from the film — something rather grand and pretty. But this first teaser trailer doesn’t deal with family or curses, and it isn’t “grand,” exactly. It has a much smaller conflict in mind. Take a look for yourself below. Read More »

We’re fast approaching the part of summer when it becomes so hot and humid outside that ducking into a Smurfs sequel just for the air-conditioning seems like a reasonable life decision. But for the characters of Disney’s Frozen, that’s not ever a problem.
The studio has released several new pics from the icy animated feature, set in a land where it’s always cold. Queen Elsa (Idina Menzel), whose accidental curse sparked the permanent chill, has fled the kingdom, leaving her younger sister Anna (Kristen Bell) to track her down and set things right.
Also caught up in the adventure are mountain man Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his trusty reindeer Sven, charming prince Hans (Santino Fontana), and chatty snowman Olaf (Josh Gad). See images of all of them and get new plot details after the jump. Read More »
