Kingsman The Golden Circle TV Spot

Just a couple weeks ago, the first trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle arrived, giving us a peek into the sequel that finds Eggsy (Taron Egerton) dealing with yet another threat to the world. This time, the Kingsman agents find their headquarters completely destroyed, forcing them to team up with another secret agency in the United States known as the Statesman. Their headquarters just so happen to be located in Kentucky, where Eggys has a hard time getting a good martini in new footage that debuted in conjunction with the Kentucky Derby over the weekend.

kingsman the golden circle first look

Kingsman: The Secret Service wasn’t just a surprise box office smash – it was one of the most pleasantly surprising wide releases of 2015. Matthew Vaughn‘s gory spy riff, which pushed the language of James Bond movies into giddy, R-rated heights, was a ton of audacious, gnarly fun. However, this also means that the sequel won’t benefit from the element of surprise. Expectations have been raised!

But it seems to have come prepared, with new cast members in Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, and Jeff Bridges, each of whom has been revealed in the Kingsman: The Golden Circle first look.

2014, KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE

Kingsman: The Secret Service was one of 2015’s most pleasant surprises, an ultra-violent James Bond riff with an anarchic streak a mile wide and a penchant for shocking reversals. Not even that truly awful second-to-last scene could derail one of the most spirited action movies of the past few years. It’s good! My only real concern about the upcoming sequel is that it won’t find a way to top the sheer, bloody insanity of the first movie.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is due out later this year and outside of an impressive cast and the return of director Matthew Vaughn, details have been kept under wraps. However, we do know that the next movie will find a way to utilize a scene that was cut from the first film.

kingsman resurrection

Kingsman: The Secret Service was one of the most pleasant surprises of 2014, a wild reinvention of old school spy movie imagery that never spared the gore while ruthlessly satirizing just about anything remotely connected to modern politics and espionage. It’s a messy movie, but it’s the best kind of messy – it has so much on its plate and so many targets in its sights that it moves breathlessly from one bizarre idea to another.

And it had a high body count, with large swaths of the original cast not living to see the credits roll. And now, a long-simmering rumor associated with the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, has been seemingly confirmed: a certain dead character will somehow make it back for the sequel. This feels like the kind of reveal that will inevitably surface in a trailer, but proceed with caution and consider this a spoiler warning.

Jeff Bridges in Kingsman 2

The cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle is already something special with Elton John making a rare turn as an actor. But the roster for the sequel just got a little sweeter with the addition of The Big Lebowski and True Grit star Jeff Bridges, and he even got his own teaser poster that is the perfect way to announce the addition of The Dude to the cast. In fact, the poster just might tease the role of Jeff Bridges in Kingsman 2. Read More »

Kingsman 2 poster

Kingsman: The Golden Circle promises to take the U.K. spy organization across the Atlantic, where they’ll hook up with their Stateside counterparts like Jack (Pedro Pascal) and Ginger (Halle Berry). But it’s still managed to find some room to loop in a major British icon. Elton John is reportedly in talks to join the action sequel, which will be directed once again by Matthew Vaughn.

UPDATE: Elton John has confirmed he’ll appear in Kingsman: The Golden Circle. See his Instagram announcement below.

Game of Thrones

The downside of Game of Thrones‘ pull-no-punches unpredictability is that it’s really easy to fall in love with a character, only to see them suddenly disappear from the show. But the upside of that is that it frees up Game of Thrones actors to pop up in other cool projects. Like Pedro Pascal, who once played fan favorite Oberyn Martell, and who is now set to co-star in Matthew Vaughn‘s Kingsman: The Golden CircleRead More »

kingsman 2 details

There’s a whole lot about Kingsman: The Golden Circle that sounds new. Eggsy (Taron Egerton) will be heading across the pond to America for this new adventure, meeting new friends (like Ginger, played by Halle Berry) and new foes (like Poppy, played by Julianne Moore) along the way. But there’ll be a few familiar elements as well, including Merlin (Mark Strong). And the first Kingsman 2 poster suggests another old friend has joined the fray.

(Spoilers ahead, though it doesn’t look like the marketing team is exactly going out of its way to keep this particular plot point under wraps.)  Read More »
