Kingsman The Golden Circle TV Spot

Kingsman: The Secret Service is a movie with energy to spare. Matthew Vaughn‘s spy movie moves fast with an infectious giddiness about itself. The director’s enthusiasm for this world of spies and super villains is unmistakable. Next month, that world is going to get bigger with the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which looks every bit as playful as the first movie.

Below, watch the new Kingsman: The Golden Circle TV spot.

Kingsman The Golden Circle TV Spot

Even though summer may be over in a few weeks, September will be bringing us a blockbuster sequel that looks to be worthy of the season, but smart enough to avoid getting lost in the shuffle with the rest of the studio tentpoles.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is the sequel to the original Kingsman: The Secret Service, an adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book of the same name, published by his own Millarworld banner, which just got picked up by Netflix this week. This time, the British secret agents must seek the help of their American cousins, known as the Statesman, as their own headquarters has been blown off the map by a new threat. A new TV spot shows more of the action from the comic book sequel, including Taron Egerton and Colin Firth back in action together, this time fighting alongside each other as equals.

Thor Ragnarok Comic-Con Footage and Panel

Members of the /Film staff spent much of the past week in San Diego to cover Comic-Con 2017, the enormous convention that explores every single corner of the geek world (and surely you’ve heard of it and already knew that). We saw footage from Marvel’s upcoming movies, including Avengers: Infinity War. We were able to listen to Steven Spielberg talk about Ready Player One. We explored the world of Blade Runner 2049 in a special VR experience. We watched 7,000 people go totally nuts over the first trailer for Stranger Things season 2.

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg. We’ve compiled all of our Comic-Con coverage from the past week into one handy post, organized by category. So please: peruse and enjoy and get your fix.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle Comic-Con Panel

When Kingsman: The Secret Service arrived in 2014, it was an underdog that became a surprise box office hit. Now, three years later, the sequel arrives with a different set of expectations. Can Kingsman: The Golden Circle live up to the nuttiness of the first movie? Does it have the flash and energy necessary to woo a Hall H crowd at Comic-Con?

From the moment the panel began, the answer was yes. Comic-Con crowds are infamously easy to please (everyone is there to have a good time!), but the footage from director Matthew Vaughn‘s upcoming sequel was violent and frantic and self-aware and darkly humorous. It looked very much like the first movie, albeit with a shinier, glossier coat.

Kingsman The Golden Circle Red Band Trailer

Everyone’s bleeding in red, white, and blue in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

The over-the-top, gratuitous violence that we knew and loved in 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service is back and raring to go in the new red band trailer for its sequel, which sees Taron Egerton return as Eggsy, who clashes with crass American Statesman, lead by Channing Tatum and Pedro Pascal. And a beloved character from the first film makes a surprising return.

Kingsman The Golden Circle TV Spot

Just a couple weeks ago, the first trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle arrived, giving us a peek into the sequel that finds Eggsy (Taron Egerton) dealing with yet another threat to the world. This time, the Kingsman agents find their headquarters completely destroyed, forcing them to team up with another secret agency in the United States known as the Statesman. Their headquarters just so happen to be located in Kentucky, where Eggys has a hard time getting a good martini in new footage that debuted in conjunction with the Kentucky Derby over the weekend.

kingsman the golden circle trailer

There are quibbles to be had with director Matthew Vaughn‘s Kingsman: The Secret Service, but it has such a fresh, bizarre, and anarchic energy – it’s easy to forgive the hiccups and speed bumps and embrace the bigger picture. When the credits roll, you’re ready to see more ultra-violent spy adventures starring this crew. With the set-up out of the way, a sequel can hit the ground running and sprint directly into the craziness of the first film’s third act.

The first Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailer has arrived and, at first glance, it appears to live up to the first film’s audaciousness.
