Kingsman: The Golden Circle Visual Effects

Kingsman: The Golden Circle may not be the height of realism in action filmmaking, but when it comes to the visual effects, there’s some impressive work done to bring the world of violent spies to life in Matthew Vaughn‘s comic book adaptation.

Since it’s awards season, all of the visual effects houses are showing off the extensive work that went into the various blockbusters releases in 2017. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is no exception, and Imageworks has delivered a batch of visual effects breakdowns for a few prominent visual effects creations that appear throughout the movie.

Kingsman: the Golden Circle Visual Effects

Though Kingsman: The Golden Circle may not have lived up to the quality of its predecessor, it was still a mostly satisfying sequel with some hard-hitting, kick-ass action sequences. And while there is some outstanding stunt work done on these kind of movies, there’s also an extensive amount of visual effects, especially when it comes to how Matthew Vaughn chooses to showcase the action in question.

A visual effects breakdown from Imageworks VFX has surfaced online to show how the climactic fight over the briefcase from the end of Kingsman: The Golden Circle came together. Because of how the sequence is made to appear, there are tons of composite shots, face replacements and one particular shot that was created entirely with visual effects. Kingsman The Golden Circle reviews

Saving the world generally doesn’t look as fun as it used to in spy movies. Looking cool and having a blast has gone out of fashion for some of cinema’s spies – with the notable exception of Xander Cage – who tend to have more inner-turmoil than a good time. They’re sometimes brooding, tortured, and self-serious – which are not the words to describe Eggsy (Taron Edgerton) and the world of Kingsman, born from Mark Millar and Dave Gibbon‘s comic.

Screenwriters Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn adapted the source material with glee. That feeling of all-around giddiness comes from the spy movies Goldman and Vaughn, who’ve worked together for over a decade, grew up loving. With Kingsman: The Secret Service and its new sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the co-writers want to celebrate spy tropes, not poke fun at them, as Goldman recently told us.

Below, check out our Jane Goldman interview.

kingsman 3

Matthew Vaughn‘s latest, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, smashes its way into theaters this weekend. The early word has not been overly kind, nor have they been devastating. “[An] exhausting, exhilarating watch,” seems to be the biggest takeaway from the film, and 20th Century Fox wants to keep that exhilaration alive while turning it into box office returns. If you’re someone who wants more Kingsman in their lives, you’re in luck, because Matthew Vaughn wants to make Kingsman 3 and then some spin-offs to boot. Are you prepared for more well-dressed people shooting guns at each other?
