Exorcism Diaries

Summit has been developing a film called Exorcism Diaries for a couple years, originally recruiting Barbara Marshall to write back in 2013, with other writers tackling it in the meantime. The film was originally said to be based on a book that purports to chronicle the true stories behind the film The Exorcist, and while that may be just a good marketing angle from Summit, we’ll always take a good exorcism movie.

Now Exorcism Diaries has an even better chance to be good, as the two people who made Starry Eyes, Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch, have been brought on to rewrite and direct. Read More »

Holidays horror anthology

The holidays and horror go together like peanut butter and jelly. They seem totally opposite, but end up fitting just right. A day like Halloween makes clear sense but several holidays have been given the horror treatment over the years. Now, all of them will come together in one massive movie.

XYZ Films and Distant Corners Entertainment are teaming up to make Holidays, a horror anthology film that’ll feature segments based on holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Halloween and Mother’s Day. Among the directors participating are Kevin Smith (Clerks), Gary Shore (Dracula Untold), Scott Stewart (Legion, Priest), Matt Johnson (The Dirties), Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch (Starry Eyes), Nicholas McCarthy (At The Devil’s Door), Sarah Smith (The Midnight Swim) and Anthony Scott Burns with more on the way. Starry Eyes clip

Starry Eyes is a great independent horror film that follows a young woman who goes further than she ever imagined possible in her quest for fame. Alexandra Essoe turns in a killer performance in the lead role, and we see her character Sarah go through real hell as she abandons all anchors to her past life in the pursuit of her dreams.

We’ve got an exclusive extended Starry Eyes clip, in which Sarah is invited for a meeting with her producer, and finds that she just might be in over her head. One unwelcome aspect to his overture is not entirely unexpected, but there’s a wrinkle that suggests Sarah is facing a weirder situation than most would be prepared for.  Read More »

Starry Eyes trailer

Starry Eyes answers an old question — what would you do for fame? — with brutal and visceral intensity. The film, written and directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, features Alex Essoe in a figurative and literal star-making turn. She plays Sarah, a young woman whose own self-destructive tendencies play right into the odd desires of one casting director, leading to what could be her big break as the lead actor in a horror feature. But things get really really weird as Sarah is asked to do more than she ever expected to keep her new gig. The film also stars Noah Segan, Pat Healy, Amanda Fuller, Shane Coffer, Fabianne Therese; check out a great Starry Eyes trailer below.
